OOPNP Application and EE IELTS Question

Hey Everyone,

So I hand delivered my OOPNP application last Friday, and haven't received a confirmation as yet. I was wondering how long it takes for them to send the email, acknowledging that the application was received. From the OOPNP thread on here it seemed like it would take 5-7 days to receive the confirmation email, is this still a valid time frame ? I only ask because the end of this week would be my 45 days cut off to respond to OOPNP, so I'm hoping that it'd be counted within that time frame.

Secondly my IELTS expires mid August and I'm in the process of re-applying for a test date. Considering that my EE profile initially had an IELTS score in it will my profile score be affected by it expiring ? As I understand it, that your IELTS needs to be valid when you apply for the PR through ITA but I was just wondering if my EE profile will be affected at all in the time between I get my new IELTS test scores and my old IELTS expiring in mid August.

Appreciate any insight on this. Thanks!

Unfortunately, your profile will be ineligible the day your IELTS expires. And you'll have to create a fresh profile from scratch.

One way of avoiding that fate is modifying your IELTS tests date to Nov 2013 or something and then change it after you get your latest IELTS results. If you get an ITA before you get your latest IELTS results, you'll have to decline it

Thanks for your response, is there any place that mentions this in print or any evidence of this as I haven't seen it. I guess I'm just confused as I've seen people creating their EE profile and adding their IELTS score later, how is it possible to do this in that case ?

The fact that your profile will be deemed ineligible on the day your IELTS expires can be safely ascertained from CIC site where they detail out program eligibility or by reading the Ministerial Instructions.

The workaround is all mine. Obviously the official line would be to create a fresh profile after you have a valid score.

I hear you, yeah I'm just working with the institute in my area to get the next date, hopefully I have this sorted out soon. In the mean time if I do receive the ITA, how long do I have to actually accept it ?

60 days.

There has been a lot of debate on whether you can still claim your ITA (provided you get one before your IELTS expires) if you get a valid IELTS results and update your profile within those 60 days provided you score at least as much in your new IELTS as the previous attempt. I believe that the ITA isn't held in suspended animation if your IELTS expires after getting an ITA but others have a different point of view.

I can provide both test scores, just so that it doesn't look like the information on my application wasn't valid. Quick question though, What does the minimum overall score need to be ? Is it 7.0 ?

^ Minimum 6.0 in each language competency.

You say you hand-delivered your application. I have no idea how CELPIP scheduling works, so is that slower than IELTS? Just thinking you may have an alternative to get a new language result.

From the OOPNP Acknowledgement thread, AOR is now at 4-5 weeks, minimum.

Sorry for the late response, I just saw this. I'm not in Canada currently so I can't take the CELPIP, I've registered for IELTS on August 29th as that was the only available date unfortunately. My only option now would be to change the IELTS date on my profile and re-update it once my actual results come through in mid September. From OOPNP, I still haven't received an email notification but I did call them and they have my application received in their system. But yeah they did say, they've received a lot of applications so the process of them sending out notifications has been slow.
