Hello Folks, could I get some thoughts?

I talked to the consultancy handling my application just now. They sent me a screenshot of my application status. There is no update after my biometrics submission. I'm really worried. Is anyone else in this same situation? I believe most folks would have received an update after biometric submission. I have not been able to reach an IRCC agent till now; still trying.
I heard from a friend's consultancy that IRCC is receiving many calls with requests for status updates and that the callers' applications are moved to a different office for processing. It seems this is causing a growing backlog that just delays it further and so my friend was suggested not to call IRCC. Do you think there could be any truth to this? I really hope not.

Hi All,
What does your background check says in the GIC portal?
mine is "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check."
I never saw any other information like "we are processing your background check...." in my account ever.
Is it normal?
My eligibility and medical are passed, rest everything not started. Info sharing - In progress. VO - Winnipeg.

I don't think that actually happens. I have been calling them every week for the last 3 weeks and my info was different every time I called them. I found out some are really lazy to update you properly. Fortunately enough for me, the only security is remaining, and the rest all are cleared.
Firstly, I would suggest you get the login/password for your application. Don't leave the access completely in the consultancy's hands. Secondly, after submitting your Biometrics in Dec did not receive an update stating "Biometrics Completed"?
Yes, I did get the 'Biometrics Completed' shortly after the biometrics appointment date. No update since then.
They do not make any updates post that directly in your application. The only way you can know about the updates is by looking out for GU's and calling them.
I see. I'll try calling them again then.
In the meanwhile, how would I get to know if there's a been a ghost update? I didn't understand this, sorry. Could you explain this a bit? Thanks.
