Ontario PNP Application

Hi All,

My Ontario PNP (International Student with Job offer letter) application is in Company Pre-screening stage i.e. first stage for PNP.
It would be great if I get info like based on Pre-Screening result (if its positive), Can I apply for workpermit extension ?

OPNP was applied on Aug 2014.

the short answer is no

So even Company prescreening gets approve, and later your work permit gets expire. You cannot work for that company and have to leave this country ?

After you got approved from the Province and get the PNP certificate, you can apply to the Federal CIC and get a File Number, then you can apply for Work Permit extension with your file number

OPNP also issues a letter after you get your certificate, so you can apply for a work permit based on the fact that you are a provincial nominee. You have to have a certificate though.

Maybe you can ask your employer to apply for a Labour Market Opinion that would allow you to get a new work permit?

@ananas : Till now even I was also having same approach for workpermit extnesion, but from past few months I came to know some people workpermit/PR are on hold who have applied through OPNP. Change in rule might come to know by first week of Oct 2014.

@tabrisjayson : Till he time I apply to CIC and wait for file number#, my workpermit might get over.

Did you get approved on the pre-screening stage? The company where I work have submitted the pre-screening at around the same time, then they asked for more documents, and since that I didn't hear anything. Did you got any response yet?

Hi,

When did your company applied for prescreening ? and when was additional document requested ?

I haven't heard anything from OPNP yet. Dec and Jan OPNP office is closed from Feb they might stat giving reply.
