@ samboy2005 I called OPNP on Friday and came to know theystarted issuing file numbers for the applicants who applied at the end of December. You would get the file number by this month, I guess.

I hope all of us get the file number soon, so that we know whether our files are complete or further documents are required.

I cant agree more.

Thanks everyone! I am getting the PR application together as we speak :)

@polarbeartina - I really hope you get yours soon!! I found that the constant calling and worrying did not help in terms of getting the certificate any faster, so I tried my best to not think about it and just be surprised one day when it came in the mail. If that helps...

To all 2014 applicants, the quota for this year is 2500 but seeing that they have cases pending from Summer 2013, I would start thinking of a back-up plan. My PGWP expired in September 2013; thankfully I was able to get a new work permit through my employer through the LMO process.

hi everyone
i have already received my pnp certificate, just to share my timeline
July 12,2013 in person submitted my pnp package, receive my file number and additional docs on July 17,2013
received email indicate target running out around Nov 2013. receive certificate on the first week of March 2014.

Reading the various threads, would it be right to conclude that OPNP applications are taking more than 6 months to process?

you might be right, the average time last year was around 5 months, with the variance of 4 month and maximum duration of 10 month. so, I would say, it is very variable (not a nice bell shape distribution), and depends on several parameters, so it is different case by case. the best strategy is to apply at earliest time and as ananas said, hope for the best and forget about it all, and finally be surprised one day when the post officer knock the door :D.

get a job, a good paying job, and enjoy the life, it is much more important than the stupid "PR" process. ;)
All the best

Thank you semmir.

Until the applicant gets the OPNP, skepticism runs high. Would be applying in last week of April'14. Hoping all goes well.

I plan to apply around the same time. What's your category?

I guess this is the right place to share my issue. I did post grad in vfx and editing in 2012 from London. Ontario.

My post grad work permit expired on 12 July, 2013. On 5th july we filed LMO as a Cook (short order cook in a fried chicken franchise) work permit extension.

On sept 18, 2013, LMO got refused and on 7th oct, 2013 work permit got rejected. Then my lawyer filed an adiministrative review but in november we came to know that they don't have appeal process.

I changed my lawyer and filed a new LMO with work permit restoration on 2nd jan, 2014. I was good 3 days before that restoration period was ending.

But, they are again likely to refuse the LMO. My lawyer suggesting me to apply under OPNP. So i just want to know that do I have any chance under OPNP. Please experts help me on those.

Appreciate it.....

Once our PNP is approved, do we have to maintain certain amount of bank balance while applying for Federal PR?
How much is the minimum expectation if we have to?

Guys, I finally get my certificate today. I asked OPNP office almost every week by phone and they finally did something as they promised(I was told my certificate would be arrived by the end of March).

I have waited enough for almost 8 months. For those of you who have not received your yet, I applied under Masters Students Stream at 28 July 2013, and my case started to be reviewed by officers on 6 Sept.

CONGRATS! And good luck with your PR application

Congratulations Polarbeartina

To answer my question and similar questions pertaining to showing funds for Federal PR processing,
we need not show any funds or income when the application processing is in progress.
However once PR is approved, we have to show settlement fund which should be atleast half of the "low income" amount decided by stats Canada depending on your family size.

I got this details from CIC rep.

Thanks.

I called PNP Office yesterday. They said they have started to give file numbers for people who applied in January 2014. So if you have applied in the first few weeks you might have had yours or it might be on the way.
