I've called Service Ontario and read the online FAQ but I'm hoping to get some feedback from those with experience with this process..
In mid-late January I exchanged my California C license for an Ontario G, I was issued a temporary G license that expires April 20th but the lady at the DriveTest counter who did the switch said to expect 2 weeks for it's arrival (mirroring my wife's experience) but it should technically arrive in 4-6 weeks. It's been almost 9 weeks now and Service Ontario says they haven't even processed it yet, but won't explain why until I go there in person, and they won't serve me in person concerning this issue until the second week of April, within two weeks of the temporary license expiry date, which is still another 2-3 weeks away.
Unfortunately this is one of the key pieces that I need to acquire OHIP so it's kinda nerve wracking not having insurance anymore (figured I'd have OHIP by now 5 months after landing as PR) and given how sensitive the immigration process is it makes me wonder if my PR immigrant status might be causing a delay, or if perhaps the government is simply ridiculously slow and my wife's two week experience getting her license was an anomaly.. if someone with experience on this issue could help shed some light as to what in the world causes such annoying and stressfully long delays I'd be quite appreciative.
