I am 27 years old, I have done my masters in IT (Msc) from UK and now I am planning to do a course on Business Management in Ontario as I am planning to shift my career into the management side. I completed Msc in 2014 and I am now working as an IT Analyst . I am in touch with a consultancy and they told me in Ontario there are no post graduate diplomas and what they are offering is called a Graduate Certificate (aimed at graduates not PG). They also implied since i am post graduate already there is a chance for visa rejection in Ontario. Is it true?? I am really interested in the course and which is mentioned as post graduate but comes in the category of Ontario Graduate Certificates program.

Personally, I think that if you are planning to shift your career or further develop direct job-related skills that you will be able to immediately use in the workforce, then a post grad certificate is definitely the best path for that. I am a Canadian citizen, and after doing a Bachelors degree I chose to do a 1-year post graduate certificate instead of a Masters to get into the job market faster.

To answer your question further,
1. Yes, that's correct the credential is not a diploma, it is a "Post Graduate Certificate," and in order to take a post graduate program, the applicant must have already completed his or her Bachelors/ Undergraduate degree.
2. Having a completed Masters Degree does not disqualify you from applying for a post- graduate program, there were many people in my post graduate class who already completed their Master's degrees in another country and came to Canada for the Post Grad.
3. The category of study that you are interested in "Ontario Graduate Certificates program" would be offered by Colleges.
(For example, in Toronto, Ontario ... Humber College, Seneca College, Centennial College, George Brown College ect... would be the institutions that offer these post graduate certificate programs.)

I was going through several post to get these details. I'm in same boat. Thanks a lot for sharing some light on such aspects.

I have completed my Masters in 2012, worked for almost 8 years now as Database Analyst and looking to up-skill in Big Data, graduate program offered by Conestoga college. I see this course is well structured and has course details as what I'm looking for, though, I'm afraid about convincing Visa Officer about this scenario.
Wish me luck.
