Hi All,

As far as I know & read somewhere we can have Health card even on OWP. The condition is our PR application should be accepted by the CIC. I think many of us got the first AOR from Nova scotia, Canada mentioning that PR application is complete & file number is generated.

I think providing that proof to service center we can apply for health card immediately that can be received after 3 months.

I will find the exact source of above information which I read this & paste it in this forum.

Hi All,

Pls. refer below link which clearly states the eligibility of getting OHIP.

Hi Chintan,

I think your view might be correct and a Ray of hope for all of us who are looking forward for enrolling in OHIP . I called Service Ontario today and they insisted that I should bring a job contract which says that work is valid beyond 6 months to be eligible for OHIP coverage. At that time I did not read your message. But I will go their office and will check with them whether the1st NOA from Nova Scotia is sufficient to prove that eligibility of PR application eligibility :

•you have submitted an application for permanent residence in Canada, and Citizenship and Immigration Canada has confirmed that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence in Canada ;

So whether the AOR from Nova Scotia is the appropriate document to establish that eligibility or if they are looking for something else. .

Some Links we can refer :

Hi Chintan, O_Canada,

I'm sorry to say but they don't accept AOR from Nova Scotia and your Local VO. As per them this is not the eligibility for applying PR. As far as my experience with Service Ontario they need work letter only to be eligible for OHIP.

dear i submit my doc through Greey's International ( fedex).
By the way i submit my original doc , but no matter that you submit original or photocopy , as i know one of my friend who submit his photocopies and he received visa
yes i am also Ontario nominated.
Dear embassy did not tell about the status of application.

guys - newbie question... but pls do respond....

background - FSW backlog --> PNP Pilot (Ontario), with open work permit support letter (that we all received).

Am planning to avail that option considering the fact how 'express' LVO has become lately :-)

Am trying to use the 'online' application route - question is

1. Do I apply for temp resident visa (only) or should I also apply for temp work permit?
2. If I try to apply for work permit, the online application system asks some questions related to 'do you have written job offer' - when I click on NO - it kicks me out saying you are not eligible for work permit :(

I am really stuck and would like to know from seniors who have used the online application option as to how to go about applying for visa/work permit?

I can take the manual app submission route as well... but would prefer online - but if I have to do it I'll do it...

Actually I did it manually, so dont know much about online application process. In addition, I would say that you have to apply for temporary resident visa and for open work permit (not temporary work permit).
When you fill the forms manually, you have option to write like "applying for open work permit" or "not applicable". There is some fields where you have to give LMO number, as we dont have any such kind of number, it should be mentioned that"I m applying for open workpermit based on fsw backlog reduction program".
If you do it manually I can give some info, but I m sorry for online application process.
I want to add one more thing, that you should go to your country's canadian consulate website and look for their requirements alongwith cic website.

Hope this helps.

ohhh but in that case they will count 3 months waiting period from date of landing or starting date of contract? or once we get offer letter then there will be no waiting period?
