HI guys,

I received the invitation on June 04...I was just going through the application guide and found that on appendix two, it says that international student needs to reach the entry level wage in job bank statistics while foreign workers need to reach the median wage level...

Anyone knows the definition of "international student" ? I graduated in May 2013 and have a PGWP..am I an International student?

Any ideas help! Thanks!!

:o

Same situation here.. I beleive we are counted as international student as we came here as student and now we are working on pgwp.
How you think???

Yes you are international student

Is it a MUST that we need to meet the wage requirement? I don't have any Canadian Degree. I am working with open work permit. But my wage does not meet the median level. Does it mean I will not get my EE OPNP application approved even if I got invitation from Ontario?

where does it say you have to meet minimum wage standards? i don't see that in the guide.. can you copy and paste please?
End of page 37
"Step 7: Select the location where you will work. The required wage rates for the job location are listed in a chart. You must meet the minimum entry level wage listed in the “low wage” column of the chart if you are an international student. If you are a foreign worker, you must meet the minimum prevailing wage listed in the “median wage” column.
 Example: Corporate Sales Manager – NOC Code 0611, Toronto Region o Low wage / entry-level wage = $21.00 per hour
o Median wage / prevailing wage = $40.87 per hour"

Thank You. so if i have experience in a job that paid me less than the "low", as an international student, i won't be eligible? I am talking about a job I'm currently in and had 1 year CEC experience in.
I don't have a "new job offer", its a job I've been in for 2 years, and yes, my wage is less than the "low" part.

Based on what OOPNP's guide states, you would not be eligible. To clarify/confirm you should contact OOPNP directly:
Phone: 416-327-0374 or toll-free at 1-866-214-6820 (within North America only)
Email: Opportunities.Ontario@ontario.ca

All the best.

thank you for your reply.
What about regular stream CEC under EE? do i have to meet minimum requirements for wage? or do they not care? as in without LMIA/PNP.

I found this on CIC's website:
Question
Does the one year of work experience to qualify under the Canadian Experience Class include non-paid employment? Is there a minimum wage requirement for qualifying employment?
Answer
Non-paid employment does not qualify under the Canadian Experience Class. You must have been paid a wage (or earned a commission) but there is no minimum wage requirement for your qualifying work experience.

Full-time work experience means working at least 30 paid hours per week. To qualify, you must have skilled work experience, meaning work in occupations listed at NOC Skill Type 0 (managerial), or NOC Skill Level A (professional occupations) or NOC skill Level B (technical and trade occupations).

Wait. So we (international students) are not eligible for OOPNP if our salary is below the entry level wage from job bank statistics ????
