Dear albertaorbust ,
Thank you for the info. . Also another question. On the paper it says, RPRF "what that means? should I go their and pay or I can mail with my pasport?must be paid at our office"

Kancha,
Overnight the PP Today ( you still have 2 hrs for fedex). Attach a note explaining your situation and any document showing your urgent travel date. Also ask if they can make an exception and let you pick it up in person.
Also see below post. it took 2 weeks.

Hi there could you share your timeline

Hello Kanchha,

Generally, NYC does not take passports in person but I know of a case where they took the passports in person and sent them by express mail.

If you already booked your tickets to travel overseas and if you are within travel distance by road to New York city, Here is my suggestion.

Take your Passport request letter/email printout along with RPRF (Cashier Check or MO), photographs and PRE-PAID USPS EXPRESS MAIL ENVELOPE and go to Canadian Consulate in New York City by 8:00AM. Also, take a printout of your travel itiernary.

I am hopeful that the visa officer will understand your situation and take your passport and send them to you by Express mail .
If you are fortunate they may issue the passports the next day itself.

ELSE

Send all the docs by Overnight courier with a letter explaining your situation.

Hope this helps.

"If your application is complete and you meet the requirements for permanent resident status, you will receive a letter telling you where to pick up your Permanent Resident Card in person.

When you pick up your card, you must provide proof of your identity. Please bring with you the original versions of the documents you sent with your application."

Hi,

We had a new baby in June, 2010, I didn't exactly remember I informed the AINP about composition but I informed to CIC and currently got the passport request from CIC (including baby). Will it be an issue if I inform AINP now about the new composition?.

Thanks.

This applies to folks who are applying for a new card from within Canada - it does not apply for fresh immigrants wanting to get their first PR card : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/pr-card/apply-how.asp

"If you are applying to immigrate to Canada, you do not need to apply for a card using the process on this page. Your Permanent Resident Card will be issued to you as part of the immigration process."

Please research in detail before posting such confusing info. and ensure you write out your opinion or question about it in your post.

Manny,
I have already landed and we applied for SIN. When we applied, the officer told us that we have to pick up our PR cards. I wanted to write it as part of landing experience, so I didnt mention that.
May be the officer wasnt clear or maybe this is the new rule.

I guess, its better u ask, when u land.

We just landed as immigrant to Calgary under AINP H1b last April 23. We will be returning back to US on May 3 because we need to finish and settle first all our obligations there. May I ask, what address I will put in the PN status update that we need to mail or fax? Is it US address or Canada address? the Canada address is my relative's address.

And I am 3 months pregnant now. If I gave birth before I will go back to Canada again, how can I bring my new baby? Any answer will be appreciated.

Friends,

It was a long wait and the wait has ended on a nice cheerful note. I got my PPR from Buffalo on Thursday 28th through email. I have till JUN 29th to get my PR visa stamped.

LIghtsinthemist, Joedadreamer, Albertagovernor and all our friends on this forum: thank for the support and the advice and the hand holding.

Joe: Lights and i are waiting to hear good new from you, soon you shall get the PPR.

Lettuce.

Thanks. Also, can I use my US iphone (currently with Att) in Canada/

If you're in roaming, I think yes, but it will cost much. When I landed I used my Verizon phone (Verizon has Canada plan that does not charge for roaming) for almost two months here in Calgary. You might want to ask if ATT has the same plan, it will cost less than roaming.

Below is from the website of CIC New York:
Immigrants
Approved Applicants for Permanent Residence

Submissions of passports are only accepted by mail. Passports are returned by mail within 30 business days. This does not include mailing time.
For mailing instructions, please click here.

Additional Important Information:

Check that your passport and each accompanying dependents' passport are valid at least one year from the date of your immigration medical examination.
Make sure there is at least one completely blank page, other than the last page in each passport. If dependent children are included in their parent's passport, an additional blank page should be available for each included dependent.
