Thanks for the info ag_tou. What i am thinking for moving my stuff is to pack 8-10 boxes and have my friend in US to ship me when i reach Canada. US Postal rates are : $110 for 50 lb.

my question is what doc i need to include with it so that customs don'e charge tax/duty on it.

Hi,

Try to create a account with UPS. I am getting a quote of around $520 for 8 extra large boxes with weight 50lb.

Thanks,

Wow thats great price, Elbee. Do you know by chance what documentation we need to ship it to Canada to avoid tax/duty. Here's what i have been thinking but not sure that it is the right way or not. make boxes and keep at my friends place. then when i cross border, i will put these boxes as goods to follow. then when i have stamped copy from CBSA, i will email scanned copy of it to my friend and he will put copy of that form in each container.

Do you think it will work.

one more question , do you think i will be able to ship my 42" TV as the box packing will be huge?

thanks

You just need your custom forms B4 and that's it, as a new immigrant you don;t paid taxes on the things in the list, after that yes.
You can bring our 42" TV if you put it in the relocube other I'm sure you can but how much it will be cost??

Cheers!

Hi,

I think the goods to follow list should be good. I may be wrong. Someone who has done this can explain. What I understand is that we need to go to the customs office to clear the suff when it arives.

I have a 32" TV and it was coming to $60 to ship it.

I got my 1100 lbs for around USD 800-900 from Vitran and actually I reached them through some local agent. One might contact them directly and see if it gets lesser.

But 600 lb for $620 is also very good.
