Hello everyone.
Here's my update.

I just got a phone call from my lawyer and she told me, I got a ppr today.

Here's my time line.
Application sent on Apr 14,2010
AOR received on Aug 17,2010
Done my medical Aug 30,2010
File transffered to Detroit on Dec 7,2010
Got ppr on today.

I hope everybody gets ppr soon.

Thanks.

Congrats STI!
I have done my medicals on Aug 18 2010 and reached ottowa by 31st Aug 2010. I guess application start date is critical than completion of Medicals.

Thanks AG! Do you suggest to go ahead and move my Honda Odyssey ( 2005 ) or buy one over there, People said that it would be good to have AWD ( all wheel drive ) instead of only front wheel drive. Car is really a deciding factor for many of us as they wish to move their cars to Canada, instead of buying one over there.

From the list of items on the site the ones I have highlighted in red are the ones that are ones not always there in US cars.

. Recall clearance letter

.The vehicle must bear a manufacturer's valid U.S. Statement of Compliance (SOC) label at the time of import.

.Valid alpha-numeric 17-digit vehicle identification number (VIN)

.Metric speedometer and odometer labels (provided by inspection centre)

.Daytime running lights

.Child restraint tether anchorage hardware kit

.Child restraint tether anchorage point locations (see Transport Canada's List of Vehicles Admissible from the United States)

.French supplementary restraint system label for airbags that require periodic maintenance

.Air bag equipped vehicles are required to have functioning air bags at the time of inspection.

.If the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of the vehicle is less than 10,000 lbs. and the manufacture date is after September 1, 2007, it must be equipped with an electronic immobilizer system that meets Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 114.

Seniors,

My passport was received by LA office on 30 dec but still i did not get it back. Can somone on same boat?

Thanks

I am in the same situation man. I sent them an email and they said it would take another 2-3 weeks. My passport was received by them on Jan 5th.

Congratulations Sti

Thanks for sharing this good news with the forum and hope your passport stamping happens within the next month .

Your timeline helps us get an estimate about the May CIC applicants possible PPR request dates. Your timeline closely matches four users (myself,Ell Bee,Joseph,Lettuce) except that our applications got sent in May.Most of us received Medicals request around Aug 23rd...and finished the Medical tests by End of August or first week of September.

Hopefully if none of the files are caught in background check , (May CIC & Aug Med) folks should probably see a file transfer in mid february or third week.I am simply not convinced buffalo will retain the files,January has come and gone and they seem to be still snowed in under files ...so it will have to be NY/LA/Detroit

Hmm this will probably push the landing timeline again....I was expecting in early February so now probably it will be first week of March for file transfer and two months atleast for the stamped passport to be back...

End of May/June is the best case estimate ( Leaves 2 and half months to do landing ....)

If you use AVR to come back, it has to be within 30 days. It is very likely you cannot get your card in that period and you have to apply a new visa. I would say try to find a Alberta address for PR card delivery or go with option 2.

If you have a Alberta address, you can apply SIN, but to apply health card you need proof of residence. You have a maximum of 3 years staying outside of Canada for every 5 years period. No medical to do once you got your Canada immigration visa stamp.

Seniors, please correct if the information I provide here is wrong.

Sr Members need your help...

How are ppl managing with Alberta Address? I am on H1b, to get a month leave would be really tough; So what would be my options?

Since I am in Miami i will have to do one of the below

1) fly to Alberta , rent an apartment stay there with family for 6 weeks approx (currently CIC is processing New PR Cards in 27 Business days, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-card.asp ) , apply SIN & Health Insurance and come back whenever i get all 3. But my fear is it might take longer than 6 week.

2) fly to alberta , stay in hotel finish landing and come back with the forms telling i will come back later.

with option 2 how long will i have time to go back?? Cant i even apply for SIN & health Insurance??Will i have to medicals again when i want to go back?

Car is really a deciding factor for many of us as they wish to move their cars to Canada, instead of buying one over there.

I would say if the vehicle is in good condition then move it along. True all wheel drive is good but it is all comparative. AWD is beneficial when off-roading or if you are stuck in the snow and other days its a hole in your pocket as your vehicle gives lower MPG compared to FWD. On the other hand AWD is not assurance of safety or snow proof jargon, so your safety ultimately depends on your driving skills. Most times of the year the city clears the snow from the streets and majority of people drive front wheel drive sedans and coupes as they are economical on gas. The front wheel drives perform better in snow compared to the rear wheel drive that some cars like BMW, Mustang, Camero have.

4WD is differnt from AWD. AWD all four wheels are engaged continously. 4WD you can engage either 2 wheels drive or 4 wheel drive as per your needs. These are more expensive to buy and more prone to maintenance after high mileage when compared to FWD.

One other reason I would suggest you to move your existing vehicle is for they are expensive in Canada compared to the US that includes the used car market. People from Canada try to buy vehicles from the USA to save some bucks.

Waiting Folks,

Today we should see some more cheer through the day. Keep an eye on your mail box.

My Ecas Shows File transfer today.

"We started processing your application on August 6, 2010.

We transferred your application to the Detroit office on January 25, 2011. The Detroit office may contact you."

What are the other possible changes that i can see b4 PPR?

One of the option i am considering is to fly to Calgary or Edmonton rent an apartment from here and stay there until i get it.Would Calgary or Edmonton be better??

Hi AG,

Like you said mostly buffalo do transfer and ppr on Tuesday. Is this happen with New york consulate too. Please advise.

Thanks,
Surender
