Guys,

I had left US a week ago,my medicals are done and sent to ottawa office.But I'm in india now.I haven't yet received RPRF request even if I do get it ,it will be sent to PO BOX address in jersey city.I"m stuck with the visa issue here,I don't understand how to proceed further.

Please suggest something.

engg;

Of late the passport requests from Buffalo have come via email - in which case you should be fine.

If not, have you arranged for a forwarding address - a friend etc who can inform you if they receive any communication from CIC? Also, you can authorize someone to receive communication on your behalf.

I think you have to mention your height and eye color either on the back of the photo or in a separate letter.
Check the cic site for this.

Hi iAlberta,

Could you please udpate your timing of medical done...was it in June or Apr??

My medical reports reached OTTAWA, ON on Aug 19/2010.

Waiting for PPR. Probably I may have to wait till Mid October..

I recently got my new passport. I mailed copies of the first two/last two pages. Is that good enough..or Do I have to mail whole copy.

Good luck with your processing..

Open Questions for the forum:

1. Is there any deadline to send the passport once the request comes from Consulate??

2. Once you received the passport with immigrant visa, any deadline to do the landing in CANADA ?

Your response will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Answer - Yes, there is a deadline. I think it is two and half month.

2. Once you received the passport with immigrant visa, any deadline to do the landing in CANADA ?

Answer - Yes, immigrant visa is valid for 1 year. Hence, it is expected that landing formalities should be completed before deadline.

Your response will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks canadatryingguy for your response.

Don't panic, it has gone by registered mail so it's safe. Can take up to seven-to-eight days for transit, so give it some time. You should follow up later this week with DMP to see if they received confirmation of delivery.
Thanks for the reply. I will wait untill end of this week to follow up.

Thanks for all the info here guys. Here is my timescale

Nominated: March 25, 2010

Whats AOR in the timelines that you guys have? I have not received my nomination yet and hence the question.

And just so you guys know I really appreciate your assistance on this site. I have had to call Alberta for most of the questions and for the rest you guys have been very helpful. As we all draw closer to crossing over I wish you all the best and your help has been very much appreciated....each one of you...really.

Ok, wanted to post a compendium of acronyms for a while::: The stages I mention below are my own making. The periods in between these steps are where you'll be animated suspense waiting for the respective stage's end result!

Stage 1 - nomination, ends with getting nomination certificate [this stage no longer applicable with the suspension of H1B nominations :( ]
PNP = Provincial Nomination Program (General Canadian term as many or most provinces have this program)
AINP = Alberta Immigrant Nomination Program (this is Alberta's PNP)

Stage 2, application, to "CIC", results in AOR, Medicals request
CIC = Citizenship and Immigration Canada (Canadian equivalent of INS/USCIS)
PR = Permanent Resident (/Residency)
AOR = Acknowledgment of Receipt (by CIC that they recd your application for PR. This will give you a B- - - - number called the Immigration file number. The letter will NOT have the acronym or the fully expanded form! Dunno why the acronym is so popular though .. Duh!!)
eCAS = CIC's online status checking application. You'd use the B- - - - number to check status. https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/?app=ecas&lang=en CAS stands for Client Application Status (Double Duh! :D)

Stage 3, Request for passport, ends in payment of "RPRF" & eventually receipt of Canadian PR visa stamped in your passport
PPR = Passport Request
RPRF = Right of Permanent Residence Fee [this is the fee you pay after the original CIC application fee. RPRF is for getting the PR visa stamped and is refundable. This is requested by CIC when they are ready to stamp the PR visa!)
COPR = Certificate of Permanent Residency (is issued with the visa and is proof of your PR status)

Best of luck to all!
