Erakyo - You did not send these documents when you sent your application to CIC?

Yes, I did not send my birth certificate and FBI when I sent my initial application to CIC. Right now, already got my FBI and will notarized my birth certificate tomorrow.

Does anyone have good experience about paying application fee with Canadian dollar?

According to the Buffalo's website, it shows (Payments must be drawn on a bank located in Canada), Can I purchase a international money order from USPS? I am wondering if it can be cashed in a bank located in Canada.

Thanks.

Dear All:

I sent my CIC complete package (including FBI and everything) on 29th Jan 2010. CIC received my application on 1st Feb 2010. The money order submitted was from USPS. By tracking the money order, i got the immigration file number (the B********* number).

I have not received the AOR and medical request yet. But i check the case status every day using my B number. Today it says We started processing you application on June 3rd, 2010.

I hope that this information will be helpful to people.

Thanks

Just ask them to give you an tracking information many people lost their medical and got delayed that medical.

good luck.

"Hopefully" they will do ,what they said :).

You should get your medical/offical AOR letter and fee payment receipt in mail anytime this week. now....

try to find medical doctor in your area and try to schedule an appointment with him earliest. this is what i call pro-activeness lol

do we just need to pay a single rprf fee of $490/- or is it for everyone

Hi,canadatryingguy

What currency did you buy in the money order? US dollar or Canadian dollar?

Now I consider to buy a money order with Canadian dollar from USPS, just want to make sure it will work for Buffalo.

Thanks.

Rajesh,
1. For proof of funds, I showed USD 28,000 (USD 8000 cash and USD 20,000 cashiers check). This was just to be on safe side.
But for a family of 3 you are required to show only $16,967
You can see the matrix at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp - It is for skilled workers though. This is just to give a rough idea.
2. They ask for list of all the items you would be bringing to Canada later. They ask it for your benefit. You would be exempted of import duty on these items. There are 2 options to show it - a) carry well printed B4 forms and waste lot of time b) carry neatly written sheet with list of items and they would attach it to a single B4 when you land
You need to mention vehicle's VIN# also in case you would be transpoting your vehicle. Also carry pics of costly items (e.g. jewellry) - they may ask it for valuation. I was not asked though.

Yeah Despo,

You are right ,I will ask them.

Thanks for suggestion.

Someone asked me how to track the money order from USPS. Here are the steps:

1) Go to the post office with your receipt.
2) Ask the post office person that you want to know whether you money order has been cashed or not.
3) She/He will give you form called 'PS Form 6401'.
4) Fill the form, tell her that you want the scan copy of front and back of your money order, pay the fee.
5) Wait and after 10 or 15 days you will receive a letter from USPS with the front and back of your money order. You will only receive the letter if the money order has been cashed. If not, you will have to wait for it to be cashed.
6) There is no way to check the status of your request online.

I hope it helps.

It can not be done, at least not in this state.

The receptionist asked me some questions which i could not answer and can only be known if i have the AOR/Med Request with me.

Thanks
