No news so far i sent them case specific inquiry 3weeks ago but no reply, yesterday i sent them email and all i got was a receipt for that email, I guess the online web inquiry does not work i guess it's flooded somehow. Anyways that's all there is.

Please search through the thread.So many of the users are posting AVR experience.Anywaz here goes..myself have not done the landing.Planning to do it by second week of july.Based on the experiences of the previous posters.

1.1.What are the things i need to prepare to show when i arrived in canada?

Guess you are asking about Landing process and checklist
1.COPR documents. 2.3 Photographs with timestamp on the back 3.Goods to follow list. 4. Car documents if you are importing
5.Bank statements for proof of funds along with any cashier's cheques etc. 6.Address in canada to fill out during the PR card application.

Also in addition you will need your SIN card forms and health card forms later when you step out from the airport.

Coming to the AVR process checlist ( has been posted before .Kindly Kindly search the thread )

First the boarding passes are obtained and then one passes to US immigration at both Calgary International and Toronto International.

1.Expired visa stamp in the passport ( basically your passport)
2.Old I-94 ( Kindly do not surrender your I-94 while leaving Usa) --Multiple users have posted accounts where they had no issues at all and airlines did not even ask them for the I-94.
3.New I-797
4.H1B or your current visa documentation to answer questions from Immigration. Please keep your current employment letter,paystubs,w2, tax forms and everything and everything that can prove your legal status.
5. Your canadian stamp in the passport can be used to prove your stay is below 30 days .
6.Printouts of the AVR memo to show to officers who do not know the rule.
7.Also please carry along your cool mind to be patient with officers to make your case
8.Nationals of certain countries might have to do an NSEER(Just google ) .

Again I have not seen anybody turned away from using AVR except couple of users ( Justinline and others ) had to convince the Immigration officers for more than 2 hrs to let them back. For 90% of the people AVR is a very smooth process.For the unlucky rest you just need to be very patient to explain your case and ultimately senior officers will step in and help you out.

It does not matter whether it is Calgary International or Toronto International.Just stay cool....worst case scenario which has not happenned till now ( among all the experiences in this forum and on trackitt ) is you might have to go for an visa interview at Alberta.


There is no other magic checklist.Kindly use this . Hope this helps.

No, I am not in IT. I work as a Financial Analyst but use lots of database tools like Oracle, SQL, Microstrategy etc. Before I got this offer I have heard many stories about how difficult it is to get job in Canada with US education or experience so here is my take on that.

First about me. I have both my Undergraduate and Graduate degree from US. I have been in US for 15 years and all my experience (about 6 years) is from one company that sponsored my H1B. I was working as fulltime direct hire, not contract.

Once I completed my landing process I started looking for many job sites like indeed.ca, monster.ca etc and also applied directly through some big Canadian companies' career page. I gave lots of interview through the phone and also went to Canada for some face to face. After 3 months of job search and interviews I have 2 offers and I picked one that I felt was best for my career. I didn't change my resume at all, as I found that Canadian resumes are not that different from US. One question I was asked almost every time was that you been in US this long and why you want to move and I gave the same answer every time. I told them honestly about my situation that my US visa was expiring and I've recently got my Canadian PR. Most of them were happy with my answer and some were surprised that US don't have a point based policy for skilled immigrants.

About the rumors that Canadian companies won't consider US experience: It is just a rumor. From my experience and the reason I got job offer vs many local candidates was because of my US experience. I have US address and phone number in my resume and they still called me.

Everything else is pure rumours. If you are confident and your skillset / exp matches with the requirement you are there. One thing to keep in mind you may not get the same salary as you would be getting in areas like NY etc but that is something we all were aware of long time back.
