Does anyone know about Google voice works in Canada? I mean that it can give you a Canadian number, i.e, Fully Canadian Google voice?

Google voice gives you only US numbers. Some have been lucky to expliot a glitch that could enable call forwarding to Canadian 403 numbers from google voice.

Agree with you guys. I have completed my landing about a month ago and by now I already have 6 phone interview and 2 F2F interview with Canadian employer. I still have my US number and address. I'll say I do not have an offer yet but those interview calls were more than I was getting from US employers and I'm still in US. So people ignore those negative comments from Washington state who has opinion of everybody expect of him.

Adding more information that ag_tou has shared, you can buy a magic jack here in the US itself and register for a Canadian number. Once you register the magic jack, you can go online and forward the calls to your US cellphone. You will receive all your calls in the US while the caller thinks he is calling a Canadian number.

There difference between Magic Jack vs Net Talk Duo is the Magic Jack needs a computer running all the time, where as the Net Talk does not need a computer, it can directly connect to the router.


Netalk purchased in the US cannot register a Canadian number, but if you buy it from Amazon.ca you can register a Canadian number.


Magic Jack has no restriction for selecting the number, but you need to pay $10 per year extra for a Canadian number.

Hi all, I am in big trouble. My file was transferred to NY on December 14th. My husband was not here when I sent my FBI report. Now my husband is here on H4 visa. He doesn't have social security number. I just received email from CIC New Your that I need to submit my husband's FBI report with in 60 days.? What should I do? Can he get FBI report with out social security number? I feel really bad what happend to me in Last tage of my PR

You can still apply FBI report without SSN. Nothing will go wrong with PR.

Yeah, I agree too, I applied FBI cert for my wife who is on H4(that means no SSN), so no worries go ahead and apply soon and also try to talk to CIC and get extra time to submit the FBI certificates.. Cheer up!

Kanchha you can apply for FBI finger print without SSN just write ' ON H4 depended visa ' in place of SSN and put one copy of H4 visa With it and dont forget to send multypul copies of fingerprint card (Three of Four).Becuse if they could not read finger print on one card they can use another one.I did the same... Do it now..Best Luck

Hi Guys,

I am very busy these days and can't spend time in replying back for some unecessary and unwanted comments, which some people are making here.

But I couldn't resist anymore, when I see some people like WASHINGTON.STATE, spreading rumors and unproved statements, which scare others and create stress around people, who are hopeful of starting a good life in Canada.

Let me give some inputs from my side:

- I got nomination in May last year and within 10-15 days got the job from US itself. (with a 20% increment)
- Moved to Calgary in August 2010.
- I took 1-2 month in job settling and adjusting my kid in the day care.
- Almost October mid, my spouse started looking for job and got the job in just one week.
- I am continuing in my engineering profile and she is in Management. Her first job gave her a good break and a decent starting salary.
- After working for 5 months and gaining some local experience, she started looking for a more better job and with her hard work, friends, and networking, she got the job in hardly less then a month...and doubled up her salary as well as got a very good position too.
- in just last 6-7 months, we have doubled up our annual household income.
- Both are working with very good companies and satisfied with our move.

Not just me, I have seen at least 4-5 families moving to Alberta through AINP and they got jobs or came with job from US.....Its your hard work and efforts, which pay.

I, chalocanada, cchabert, kisha, jxjy .....all are enjoying our move...and we are going to have Ell.Bee joining us soon.

So guys, don't spend time in focusing on these stupid rumors......rather foucs on your job search, udate your resume as per Canadian needs, grow your network (use Linkedin....make sure you have your city in your profile as Calgary, add to groups like Linking Calgary and Calgary Technology Network, Calgary Business Analysts etc), combine the job search tool with Linkedin and apply.
