HOW LONG BEFORE RPRF CHECK IS CASHED (Buffalo)? I sent Western Union check USD $490.00. It is 3 weeks since Buffalo received it; they still hasn't cashed the check.

Those who have their RPRF check cashed, can you share the delay between when the check was send/received and cashed.

Here are my thoughts:
Since we send Money Order or Cashier Check to CIC, they generate a receipt as soon as they receive it and they consider that the amount is Paid.
In my case, I sent RPRF on Nov 23, 2010 and NYC generated RPRF receipt on Nov24, 2010. The Money Order was encashed on Dec01, 2010 ( learnt through USPS customer Service).

In one of my friend's case, the RPRF was not cashed yet but the online E-Cas status says Decision Made and he is waiting to receive the Passport with PR Visa.

I mailed them my FBI clearance on Jan 26th (which I finally got after 5 times of trying, almost a year actually) so when I got the request from them, I think that was around 2nd week of Feb, I told my VO that I already mailed it weeks before. I got a reply from him saying they haven't received it. So it took them more than a month to finally update my file.

Btw, with the last application I did for my FBI, it took them 3 months to issue my clearance.

I have an theory. Buffalo has speeded up its processing and they are sending out PPR's to May applicants and also asking for FBI on case by case basis. I have tried to communicate with them multiple times and have given them the confirmation details of my FBI certs (dated Dec 2010) which were received by them in the month of February.The VO said the file has not been updated ,it is puzzling to me why it is taking more than a month for them to update the files with my FBI certs and also looks like my VO is not as considerate as the guy VIper got . I have requested 3rd time FBI ...they did ask me to pay the RPRF if it has not been done already in the mail that I got.

Anywaz long story short both of you will for sure receive your PPR request in not more than two weeks..

Also the reason the PPR's are appearing random is they are mostly going by

1.Application sent date
2.Completness of the application ( FBI , Police ) and I have a hunch they like RPRF being paid.
3.Out of the background check loop....

Any one of the above seems to prolong the application time...

Anywaz I hope god takes some mercy and gets my file updated with the FBI certs...meanwhile have to wait for the third set if they dont like the second set....

Enough of my sob story. Good luck to you both , you will for sure get it in the next two weeks.

Thanks a ton man for this post.You increased my confidence a thousand fold ..So mine is not an isolated case , these VO's seem to be asking for FBI cert's multiple times and also not updating the files by more than a month. My cert's reached them on Feb 17th ,with today it is an month...hopefully they update it in the coming weeks and find everything in order. Still just in case will have the third FBI to back me up hopefully within the next 3 months.

I am given 30 days time to submit the passports.

Surprisingly, the letter is dated 09-March-2011 and the postal stamp date on the envelop is 15-March-2011.
I can't believe that it took one week for the dispatch clerk to drop the letter in the mailbox...

Anyways, My 4 months of wait has come to an end.....

My prayers and wishes for each one of you and hope you get your PPR's soon.

Congrats Cupid, I went in person to buffalo and they told me that it will take 3 and half hours to update the systems other side. So all you need is 3.5 hrs after your stamping and then proceed with your PR formalities. Do post us with your landing experiences. Good luck!

Thanks lightsinthemist , I didn't pay RPRF with application not even after getting the letter (no doc required) but I will pay now when I will go for stamping. But yeh other than that everything was there in the application packet like police certificates ...

I am pretty sure atleast Buffalo is processing applications as per "Processing start date" not by medical recevied. One good thing atleast for me, they have given me enough time for stamping so I am thinking to do in-person stamping and cross the border next day and complete the PR formality. what you guys say, stamping one day and land next day ????

Congrats uniwander! you can epassportphoto.com for 3.5 - 4.5 cm Canadian Visa photoes. Nothing to worry about Vision, they call its Corrected vision and let CIC know about your Sight details.

Hey guys, I received AOR and medical request today... two questions:

1. I need two passport photos for each person. Do I need to use US size or Canadian size?

2. My vision is not so good so I ware glasses. Is vision important for the medical exam?

I guess, I will just wait another 1-2 weeks, which will be hard. I guess the really difficult part is the fact, that it is one's passport and hope there is no emergency back home, as one can't travel without a passport.
