I have been to Canada 2-3 times on visitor visas and everytime they stamped a 6 months visa. Though, I feel they evaluate it on a case by case just like in US.surenderJeet said:For Canada any idea?

Hi Chigirl thanks for answer but how to check my e case while I dont have file number pls. let me knoe..chigirl said:In this case, your only option would be 1) Inform CIC of change in address- email and fax 2)Give a forwarding address to USPS 3) Keep checking your e-case for possible indications of when you can expect your AOR/Medicals.

Need your help !!! i got my medical request three weeks ago and i would be completing the medical exam this friday. However CIC didnt request for submission of PCC results. I have the PCC results with me. My lawyer suggests me not to submit it until they request it. Do you think i should submit the PCC results even though they haven't requested it ?
Please reply. Appreciate it !

In USA they give 10 year visitor visa but person can stay here for 3 month and leave and then can come again.
Is that same kind of rule in Canada?.
lettuce_tomatoes said:Rajesh,
If i were you, I would ignore the lawyer's advice and get the PCC results sent to the CIC.
Well, there are 2 dates with respect to a Visa.surenderJeet said:Is that date of entry is flexible for example if they give visa for 6 month then visitor can visit today and stay for 6 month
or he can plan to visit after 1 year and stay for 6 month. Please advise.
No, visitor visas are quick. If you visit the consulate you get it immediately if you are posting application, you should get it in a week.surenderJeet said:Is that visit visa also take long time to get like in residency visa we are just waiting and waiting.
Hey stranger, glad to see you back on the forum.AbuMalik said:Buddy,
How can I forget you and all who helped me get my PR visa ?
My 2 year story with AINP (kind of frustrating at some point until I got really busy on my current project) ended last year in November:
Application to AINP: December, 2008
Invitation from AINP: Jan, 2009
Application to AINP PR: Feb, 2009
Revisied Request from AINP with additional documents: Nov, 2009
FBI Fingerprinting Application: Nov, 2009
FBI Fingerprinting: Feb, 2010
Medical Request: July, 2010
RPRP: Oct, 2010
Visa: Nov, 2010
But, you know all the other stories never end and sometimes more for an immigrant .. I will be moving to Canada sometime this year .. hope we all get together someday?
Since, I am thinking of moving there, trying to get info on PR validity and thats why I posted these two questions:
1. Is the COPR valid date same as the Permanent Resident validate date ? in that case I just have 4 years and not 5 years what initially thought PR was valid for?
2. When does the 5 year PR valid state start ? the day I received COPR or from the day I land in Canada (for ex: if I land today, will it be 5 years from now?)
If anyone has answers, kindly shed some light
Thanks,
AM

The COPR dates have got nothing to do with your Permanant Residency Validity. When you land, the officer will sign the COPR papers and you will have to provide a address in Canada. Once you are in Canada you can apply for PR card, the PR card will be valid from 5 years from the date of issue. Say you land in Canada on 10 March 2011, then you apply for your PR card in April 2011. Say it gets issued on May 20th 2011, and you receive it sometime in June 2011, the expiry date on the PR Card will be 19th May 2016.
You are already a landed immigrant and all you have to do is meet your residency obligation and you are good. Don't worry about the COPR dates. Just be sure to complete your landing before the Immigrant Visa expires and that will be a year from the day you did your medicals.
Fax to CIC and Detroit the pages of your old passport that shows the annotation of the new passport along with the pages that contain your personal details. Also send along the pages that contain passport number and personal of the new passport. It does not harm to send the same to AINP.DKSCHOWDARY said:As always great info AG....
One Quick Q: I renewed my passport recently, do i need to send new passport details to Detroit consulate or to AINP?
