Hello Image6000, my online profile has been updated with "medical results have been received" this tuesday. On 19th October my file was transferred to NY.

From my ECAS observations, I did notice that all updates happened on Tuesdays.

Hello everyone....

As some faithful friends on this forum suggested that I should write another email to the CIC (which i did b4 in August), i did write 'em one. To my surprise they wrote back they did send the PPR back in August but the email address they provided in the message (to which original PPR was sent) was wrong and now after I inquired they have updated my profile and sent me an invitation to get stamped before December 6 (the copy of original message the sent me had PP stamp date b4 Dec 30th). As many of you you know already I am not in the US any more so have to apply for Visit visa and get to Buffalo... now the US embassy is not usually that friendly about giving visas that quickly.
.................. So I guess my question is .... Is there anyone who has applied for an extension in the passport requested by XX date? I did my Meds in February, so maybe I could get some time till February (since I am assuming that Meds expire after one year).... what is the process to do so.... or is there any such thing as extension....? ...... Only if i had known in August abt this email i wudn't be in this problem but now i need to worry abt getting this ONE LAST STEP done right ..... I am so close!!

If u r willing to travel to USA or Bahamas, why not get a Canadian visitor visa ( most likely you will get it) and submit the PP from Canada. this way everything will be perfectly legal and in the meantime in Canada u can look for housing, jobs etc etc.when u get the stamped PP in Canada, just drive to USA border, make a u turn and Land.( U turn landings have successfully been done by others)

great idea! you can also look into "landing" at a local CIC office, i heard that it's possible. it might save you the drive to the US border to flagpole.

yep, e-cas updates for me also happened every tuesday.

i also noticed yours changed to "medicals received" 2 weeks after transfer to NY. this gives me a lot of hope , next tuesday is the 2nd week since our file was transferred to LA. keeping my fingers crossed that it will change to medicals received this tuesday.

Thanks a lot everyone for ur suggestion and for the 'thread' Chigirl shared... it had really good info... in that thread smiley mentioned that she went for Canadian Visit first and she got rejected!! I wonder why.... like she was technically an immigrant but still Canadian office rejected her visit visa?? strange... but eventually she got it so thank God for the happy ending.

I am in Pakistan.... and things are bit tougher with visit visas compared to India. My appointment is set for the November 10th with the US embassy. So lets be optimistic and assume they approve my application even then its taking them about 4-6 months for the security clearance and for this whole time they take you passport and keep it!.... So I definitely need a longer extension like as much time as I got the first time..... only if they had sent it to me and not someone else... Aug, Sep Oct Nov Dec 30th... 5 months are good, and now they have moved it to December 6th which is crazy. So reading most of your' replies it seems like they do give extensions which is nice I can definitely use that... will keep you guys posted...

I am from pakistan too and I am visiting Pakistan for only two weeks starting from 11/13/10 to 11/27/10. I am not sure if it is legal to carry one's passport for any reason. Please check it and if you feel comfortable contact me, may be after meeting if confident develops between us, I can bring over your passport and mail it out to Buffalo, but again all is at your decision. I followed up my application from NY consulate. Originally it was from Buffalo. NY replied after 10 days from my inquiry and just said that my " Application is in queue for Processing"....anybody knows what is the meaning of this?

received email acknowledgement from Buffalo that they received my medical
file transferred to NY on Sept.21 ( originally from Buffalo )
