my cic application reached buffalo on March 26, till now the money orders had not been cashed.
anyone in the same boat?

being on the same boat is getting annoyingly redundant on this forum

I am just trying to know how long it is taking to get the Money Orders cashed after the application is received.

I sent my application on Feb 16th and my BoA cashiers check was cleared on March 1st.

Usual rate i have seen on this forum is 10-15 days if no issue.

or u will see u r application in your mail box in a weeks time.

Now waiting to hear on medical result

Let me try and answer some questions:

In my case, it took about 2 weeks for the MO to be encashed.

This was followed by a 3.5month long wait before I received requests to do Medicals along with AOR/ File #.

Once the medicals were complete and sent to Ottawa, it took around 5 weeks to receive request to send Passports for stamping (PPR)

Once the passports were sent, LA consulate usually takes around 2 weeks to return them back. (Not sure abt NY consulate)

Hope this helps..

Hi Tapak,
I am planning to travel to edmonton for Landing formalities, but my situation is H1B visa has expired and i have valid I-94.
Please let me know if any one have experience with this kind of situation and using AVR to re enter into Us.
please share your thoughts.
Thank you.
Nihak.

Hi nihak,

I have been using AVR to re-enter USA from Canada for almost 5 years now. I visit Canada often and all I have is an expired F-1 student visa and am currently on H1B. Just make sure you have all the H1B papers, few recent pay stubs and w-2's. Also make sure you DO NOT surrender your I-94 at the border. I usually take it out of the passport and keep it separately. Of course all this is valid only if you will be in Canada for less than 30 days.

Cheers.

EDIT: See http://www.laborimmigration.com/2008/08/automatic-visa-revalidation-program-travel-to-contiguous-territories/ for details.

So, if I understand correctly, one can re-enter the US with an expired visa as long as the I-94 is current as long as you return within 30 days? Will the I-94 that accompanies an H1-B extension suffice if the one in the passport has expired (as the date on it matches with the previous 797)?

Can this be done if the port of entry is an airport and not a border posting?

Thanks!

Yes, all you need to re-enter from <30 days visits to Canada and Mexico is an expired USA visa and papers that show you are in VALID and CURRENT status in the USA.

You will need the orginal I-797 for the extension. Take both the old and new. If your old I-94 has expired they will take that out when you RETURN back to the USA and give you a new one with the new expiration date. BUT make sure you DO NOT surrender the I-94 when you leave USA.

This can be done @ any port of entry. I have done it while flying back and also when I drove back in.

Remember one thing though. If you apply for a visa stamping while in Canada or Mexico then it invalidates AVR.

I got a question about the file number tht you get from CIC, seniors please reply if you know any info.

If we can get the file number from the Money order or bank draft photocopy once it has been cashed(as most of you said the photocopy has the file number on it) can we track the case using tht number at CIC website without get the AOR?

Hi Guys,
When you send the AINP application packet to Buffalo, NY, do we need to send original FBI / Indian Police certificates? Can I send all copies? Your reply is highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Shambho
