Only First Name On Passport

Hi There,

I have applied for PR under the express entry programme. I heard that applicant with only First name face problem in getting PR or Citizenship.

Is it true?

Please share your personal experience if anyone has the same case as me.

Not True. They understand its common in many countries. Here:

Not an issue. I have a dear friend who came to work, got PR and now a citizen with just one name - i.e First Name.

CIC writes the first name as blank and last name as <whatever first name in your passport> in all its documents. So in my friends citiznship certi it was issued like that. The CAN Passport will have a XXX in first name.

No issues in canada or CIC.

My wife only has one name. She became a PR 3 years ago. No issue. Your official government ID will have either your name and LNU (last name unknown) or FNU (first name unknown) and your name. It can be a bit of a pain with banks and organizations that aren’t government with only one name, but you can get around it.

Has she entered LNU or FNU in application. I have my last name as blank which is same as passport and no LNU or FNU added
