This is what it says on the website: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/apply.html

You can only apply on paper if applying as a family or group. See below:

In the future, more people will be able to apply online. We’ll open the online application to the following applicants next:

  • Adults (18 years of age and above) applying as a family without minors (under 18 years of age)
  • Minors (under 18 years of age)
  • Adults applying together with minors as a family
  • Applicants applying with a representative(opens in a new tab)
  • Applicants outside Canada who are
If you’re applying as a family or a group, you can only apply on paper(opens in a new tab) for now. You can include all applications in the same envelope.
If you are a couple with no kids can you apply online? I’ve been looking for a link or an answer, but have had no luck so far.

I applied online for me and my spouse, separate applications and not as a family, Also for my kid I applied separate paper application under subsection 5(1). I didn't want to submit all applications in one file as that carries risk of all application getting returned if one of the applicants was missing a document.

Do we submit all pages of passport or just bio data pages for online application. When I was uploading my passport, the online application states that all bio data pages should be uploaded, it didn't mention all pages of the passport. I just realized that a lot of people submitted all pages of their passport. Will my application be returned because I didn't upload all pages of my passport?

Does anyone know for sure if minors are not assessed on their eligibility when submitting an application for citizenship without their parent? The list of requirements for submitting an application clearly mention that minors must have spent 1095 days in Canada as a PR. However there is no requirement to include the physical presence calculation for a minor in the application form.

does it really say that? I think it requires all requirements of PR to be upheld by minors, which is 2 years in last 5 years, but no 1095 days.

correct me if I am wrong

Since you are attaching the child's application to the parent/ legal guardian's which will have the calculator, I believe IRCC assumes that the child has stayed with the parent. If the child (assumed PR) does not stay with the parents for 1095 days before the citizenship application, how will IRCC verify this? Maybe check the stamps on the child's passport?

Yes you can. If you take the eligibility questionnaire for an submitting application online it will give you a clear answer that you are allowed to apply online as a family.

Nah... IRCC don't assume anything...when you submit an application on behalf of a minor (as thier parent or legal guardian) together with your own application ..the minor is ultimately granted citizenship based on the fact that one of the parents becomes a citizen... it's legislation..so technically no physical presence requirement hence the calculator and the all the passport pages with stamps are not required

Oh yes you're right here. They grant citizenship to the child when the parent attached to their application becomes (or already is) a citizen. Thanks for correcting me.

My question got distorted down the thread. Originally my question was, "Does anyone know for sure if minors are not assessed on their eligibility when submitting an application for citizenship without their parent? The list of requirements for submitting an application clearly mentions that minors must have spent 1095 days in Canada as a PR. However there is no requirement to include the physical presence calculation for a minor in the application form. "
I think @medwiz answered your question. They arent assessed because they will be granted citizenship along with the parent/ guardian who is applying for them.

No I was looking at the wrong form. Minors, when applying WITHOUT a parent, ARE assessed for their eligibility. There are 2 different forms for minors; one where they are applying as part of a family.. subsection 5(2) and another where they are applying alone without a parent .. subsection 5(1). the form in the latter case has a separate section for eligibility assessment.
