Hello,

Leaving in Angola, I applied for a tourist visa online since 10th of May ( processing time in South Africa are suppose to be 19 working days). But since then no hearing from them. Online application says file open, no extra document needed yet. But it has been 40 days now. How can I do to get some information about this application? Is this a standard for canada visa?

Thank you

You can send a Case Specific Enquiry to the visa office in Pretoria:

Normally, one should not send the same enquiry more than once.

You can send another enquiry..... you'll have to wait until you hear from them

I got a request for my passport! So happy. But I have few questions regarding VFS fees. they are asking for 29.61 USD sent by telegraphiv transfer. Is a telegraphic transfer different from a wire transfer? Can I DHL my passport straight to High comission in South Afric or is it safer to go via VFS?

Thanks

@dadataha
That's fantastic news :)

Telegraphic Transfer (TT) is a money transfer method (prior to electronic transfers such as wire transfers or SWIFT). Do check with your bank because it is possible to do a TT.

You must send your passport to the CVAC/VFS office. You cannot send it directly to the High Commission. Do check this link for Passport Transmission Service: http://www.vfsglobal.ca/Canada/SouthAfrica/

Cheers :)

@dadataha

I'm also living in Angola. Sent my passport to CVAC/VFS office through DHL, and requested a representative in South Africa to make the payment for me.
Let me know how yours goes.

Cool I just sent my passport. I made the paiement via a relative in Canada. Now starting to plan for the return. Is there a specific type of authorization letter to use or just any one we write and sign will do?

@Bryanna thanks for the support appreciated

I don't think there's a specific kind of authorization letter required. I just wrote one and signed it.

I had a chat with their help desk. Authorization letter should show yours and the representative's full names, tracking number, and signature. Scanned copies are accepted.

Thanks for the info fayeanne. So let me undestand. You send a scanned copy to DHL contact in pretoria or to VAC? Did they received your passport yet? Is it ready? mine left cabinda only today according to dhl tracking.

Hi dadataha.

According to CVAC website, you can retrieve your passport in two ways:

1. Picking up the passport in person or through an authorized representative at the CVAC or;
2. Sending a prepaid self-addressed courier return envelope along with your passport and request letter.

In my case, I submitted my passport to CVAC through DHL. But for passport retrieval, I chose option#1 because I know somebody from Pretoria who can collect it for me, and then he can send it to me via DHL. I sent him a copy of my authorization letter with the tracking number, which he must present to CVAC. Tracking number should look like 20140320XXXXXXX11967, and it is assigned by VFS once they receive your payment.

Did you enclose a pre-paid self-addressed return envelope from DHL with your passport? If you did, then you don't need to prepare an authorization letter for DHL Pretoria.
But if you did not include a return envelope, maybe you can contact DHL Pretoria for them to collect it for you. That's when you need to issue an authorization letter for DHL.

I hope my answer is not confusing.

By the way, CVAC/VFS received my payment on 30-06-2015, and they sent my passport to the embassy on the same day. The embassy returned my passport to CVAC yesterday 01-07-2015 with the visa, and it was ready for collection today 02-07-2015.
