Online updates about Sponsorship

We submitted an application for a residence back in August 2013 and by now we haven't received any updates in the Website after 3 months. How long should it take for the site to show it's first update?. We are a little concerned because we don't even know if they received the documentation... besides the UPS confirmation.

Don't be concerned about it. CIC often doesn't update ecas and there doesn't seem to be any consistency about this. We didn't get an acknowledgement of receipt (many people don't) nor did we get any updates on the website for a long time. The first notice we got that sponsorship was even being processed was the letter to say it had been approved. We had email notification that the application had been sent to the VO and again that it was in process before the website even showed the applications had been received.

The website is updated once a week on Tuesdays. All of a sudden last week it updated for us - months after our letters. I wouldn't be surprised if PR is granted before we see another update on the website.

That said, three months is a long time to wait for sponsorship approval. I'd be inclined to send an email inquiry to ask if it has been processed yet.

I guess this all depends on whether you filed an inland package or an outland package. If it was Inland, dont panic. You will be waiting close to a full 11 months before you hear anything from CIC on your application unless they require a document from you, in which case you might hear from them earlier than that.

If you applied outland, then follow Catou's advice and call CIC because the sponsorship part of your application should've been completed within 30 days of CIC receiving your application.

Thanks for the heads up!. I was looking for an email address but I couldn't find one.... I'll keep looking and meanwhile I'll better wait for an email notification then....
