Online TRV Application - No status in Canada

Me and my wife have to visit Canada. I am on L1-B in USA, and I have never visited Canada, or applied for a visa to Canada. My spouse has not either.

Can I use the new online TRV application?

- Any help is greatly appreciated. I am too confused now!!

U can use it.
But as it appears to me, the system is broken for few days now ...

I was able to upload.. Used IE as I was not able to do it in Chrome.

I have few Qns though..

Am I required to send my passport to the embassy?

If u get TRV, they will ask u to send your passport to the specific address.

How long does the entire process of online application to stamped passport take??

My friend got an answer 12 days after he had applied online...
It was refusal, therefore I don't know how long stamping passport would take...
I guess it is the time u need to send a passport+one day+time needed for passport to come back by mail

I sent my online application on 17th January. On 1st Feb, got a response to send my passport to CPP-Ottawa. Passport sent on 4th Feb and received by Ottawa on 6th Feb. Haven't heard back from then since then.

Just FYI, the online system is a bit tricky to navigate, but its a lot better on IE.
I was able to submit TRV applications for my parents in India fine. Got a request for passport in 5 business days.
Btw I am in US.

Have you heard anything back from CIC? We are on the exact same boat. I applied TRV online on Jan 30 and was asked to send my passport to CPP-Ottawa. They received my passport on Feb 22. I haven't anything back since then.
I sent them an email yesterday but didn't get a respond.

Did they asked your friend to send the original passport? They asked me to send the original passport, and I have no idea if my application is approved or rejectes!! tnx

After exactly 28 days or 4 weeks, I have a reply today to send our passports.

If you received the reply to send the passports, then its is approved, as long the passport looks normal.

Received notification for sending passport - 03-15-2013
My passport reached Los Angeles Consulate on Monday (03-18-2013) - 11:40 AM
LA Consulate stamped it on Tuesday (03-19-2013) and sent it to USPS - 03:30 PM
I received passport back on Wednesday (03-20-2013) morning 10:35 AM

I should have sent it to LA.

I received the request for passport on 16-Mar.

Passport reached NY embassy on Monday 18 Mar, no update so far
