Online tourist visitor application for mom

I am a US citizen.
My mom lives in the middle east and does not have access to the internet to apply for her tourist visa online.
So I am doing it for her from here in the US.

I gathered all the documents, created a CIC account, logged in and submitted all the required documents.
So far so good.

That was a week ago,

I have since received two emails saying there is an update to my application.
I log in to see the update but there is no update.
The status is the same and hasn't changed from "open".

Question, why does the CIC send an email saying there is an update when there aren't any?

I am concerned that there is an update but its not being properly reflected on the portal.

This new online process is frustrating to say the least.

There isn't even a number I can call to check on the status to make sure that they are not waiting on any additional documents from us.

Any help for recourse is much appreciated.

It happened to many of us. My husband received emails about updates for more than a motn. There was no change. I know it is frustrating.
Check your account every once in a while even when you don't get any emails. In case additional documents are required they will send you a notice.
Where does your mother live? Is she required to give biometrics?
if so you should wait for the letter asking her to go for biometrics.

Yeah..been reading other messages and I think that's par for the course for this new convoluted online process.
Really though that The Canadians had their shit together but have to say the US tourist online visa application process was painless and took less than two weeks from start to finish.

Stability of the website, a phone number to call would be two things off the top of my head that they could definitely improve on.
Frustrating is putting it mildly.

She will be sending her passport to the Abu Dhabi consulate and wont need a biometrics.

I should have just used the old process of printing out the validated IMM5257E and then have her courier the package to the consulate.
Made the mistake of assuming the online process would be easier and faster.

She is planning to travel to the US on July 10th and have my fingers crossed that we get this sorted out well before that.

Anyway, good news to report...got a new message today asking for passport to be sent in.

Light at the end of the tunnel.

I got the same update message and when I checkd cic account there was no update.

Hi all,

I live in the US and my mother lives in Oman. WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP ??? :( ???
We put together their application for Canada online expecting it to be much faster.
Ran into a few problems along the way and was really hoping you could help.
1.Submitted online application
2. Received the letter to send the passport in.
3. We accidentally sent it to the wrong address and the passport was returned. (sent it to the vfsglobal address)

We are trying to figure out what the right address is and if anything additional needs to be sent to the office.
I did some digging and was wondering if someone could confirm.

Is this information correct?
1. Do you enclose the passport processing fee? If yes, then what is the amount and will it be cash/check/draft etc?

2. Is there anything additional that needs to be sent (outside of the details below)

Mail In

To submit by mail or courier, you must include your passport, a copy of the request letter, as well as a self-addressed Aramex pre-paid return airway bill OR a self-addressed (C4 or C5 sized) envelope with the following information clearly typed or written:

Your complete name
Your complete physical address (NO P.O. BOX)
Your phone number (country code + area code + phone number)
Alternative contact information (country code + area code + phone number), if applicable.
Failure to do so will result in a delay in processing your application.
