Hi,

I am from Bangladesh and I have recently applied for study permit on May 26, I have received instruction to submit bio-metric instantly. I have given my bio-metric on May 29 at VAC Dhaka. In CIC, it stated it requires almost 8 weeks to review the application from my country.

Now, my status at MyCIC account looks like this:

Application/profile status Open
Review of medical results Not needed at this time
Review of submitted documents No additional documents are needed at this time
Scheduling an interview Not needed at this time
Review of biometric information Not needed at this time
Final decision Not Started

Today, May 30, I was notified that there is a change in my application status. After login in I found Review of biometric information became Not needed at this time from Your action required

Can anyone share their experience about online application?

Can anyone share their experience about online application through Singapore office?

I would be very glad you anyone can share their experience and expert opinion.

Thanks from beforehand.

Hasan

Hi,

Did you submit any case specific inquiry?

I guess you should go back to the VFS office where you submitted you biometrics for sure they will know. I guess something is wrong with you finger prints and pics.

You might be asked to do them again. Just go back and ask them providing you information and your reciept.

You can check VFS tracking number as well to see if there is anything. The tracking number is on the receipt you got when you did your biometrics. Hope it helps

Good luck

Hi Hasan,

Congratulations! I am also from Bangladesh and have applied for the study permit online on May 15th. MyCIC shows that my medical has passed and for biometrics it shows 'not needed at this time' when I actually submitted biometrics on May 18th. I don't know why it doesn't show 'Received' or anything that sort so I know that they have my finger prints. I have been waiting ever since and am getting really worried now. I already have a Canadian visitor visa stamped on my passport as I travelled to Toronto multiple times from the United States. My classes start from September 8th and I don't know if I am going to get this semester. CIC still needs a FBI clearance report from me and I am still waiting on that. Did you ever email the Singapore office regarding your application/delay/processing time?

Hi Melody,

Before you give your biometrics, or just after you submit your on-line application, you will have received a biometrics request letter. However, for many candidates, during this time the biometrics shows the status "Not needed at this time"

For some candidates, its shows as "Biometrics Needed" when the letter is issued.

However, once you give your biometrics at the local VAC, the status changes to "Not needed at this time". I have rarely heard anyone have their status changed to "provided", which is the status change for documents.

So do not worry, as soon as you give your biometrics, your details are transmitted electronically to the system.

On the issue of sending a letter to the singapore office, I would advise you to do so immediately. They have already made you wait more than 9 weeks now. It is your right to know why they are taking longer. Be strong and e-mail them. I have personally mailed them at-least 4 times and have received neutral to positive answers 3 times, I am still awaiting their response on the last e-mail.

Also Please note that you should use the web-form on the CIC website to e-mail them. Do NOT email them directly, as they will not answer your query on e-mail during the time when your application is with them.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

If you're applying from Bangladesh then it should take you 7 weeks at the time you mentioned. I received passport request within the processing time (8 weeks) and I did received couple (actually 3) of email from donotreply with not change in status. You can send a case specific query to CIC. All the best.

@enywmara: Thank you for your message :). I actually submitted 2 CSEs, one for the blank status update emails and the other one for taking too long (this is my 13th week, can you believe this?). The thing about CSE is that they take forever to respond. I have also emailed the Singapore office a couple of times and received replies as well. It's just I am not sure if they are handling all the study permit cases or some other office. I have also compiled all my email correspondence with FBI and put them together in a PDF file and attached it with the CSE. I received an email from CIC saying that my case has been forwarded to the appropriate office. I have called FBI to check if they can expedite the process, but well they are FBI and they have loads of other things to do other than considering this one request coming from Dhaka, Bangladesh. My profile is pretty strong as I am going for Master of Science in Global Health at McMaster University, completed bachelors from U.S, have travelled to Toronto six times (with a valid visa stamped on my passport to be expired in 2018), have travel history with Egyptian, Swiss, Singaporean and U.S Student visas. I am hopeful that everything will be fine once I have this FBI clearance as I was out of BD for over 6 years. I just hope they reply within the next two weeks. I have deferred 1 offer in the States and also got admitted to UNSW in Australia and have to reply them on time or else I will lose out on these opportunities as well. It's ridiculous how because of CIC/FBI I am so frustrated and can't decide on anything unless they reply. :(

@Hasan2015: You are really lucky. I remember reading your thread when you were deciding on whether to apply online or in paper. This is awesome that you got within 8 weeks. It's just my FBI report is the only thing that I think is acting as an obstacle. I feel so frustrated as i can't even book flights! Allah help me :(
