There have been test invites in the new year.We have always been short of public "statements" - that's a substantial part of why people were protesting. In my understanding, the online test was just a pilot limited in the confines of a 5000 batch, and since the New Year I have not seen any report on test invites. That's why I am starting to suppose that that might be complete and we are back in limbo. I do hope I am wrong though.
At least one November 2019 applicant received a test invite on Jan 5. It would not make any sense to assume that IRCC is stopping online tests. They initiated a pilot program to reduce the backlog and to monitor the efficiency of the system. Why on earth would they suspend the program when there is a gargantuan backlog that is only growing by the day?
Sometime around mid Feb / March, it is likely that we will see an increase in the number of test invites sent out by IRCC.
