Most schools have on-campus dorms, I just assumed that option was available to you hehe / I don't know about dorm life in North America though, I'd prefer living off-campus actually hehe so I'd agree with your dad

Plus if safety is a concern, you'll be living in a secure, residential area It's more expensive than sharing a flat with roommates but still cheaper than paying for an apartment by yourself. I don't think there's an age limitation to it, as long as you're a full-time student enrolled in a school, you can qualify for it. But then, iba rin talaga kung independent ka na talaga I have friends who went on exchange programs and they all say that was the best part of the experience haha!

I can't say Vancouver is a "fun" place to go to for tourism HAHA It's a very livable city and everyone's friendly and polite, you can walk around at night while still feeling safe.

@ cruzmariaclara: People who said that IOM processed medical results faster than SLMC didn't know that SLMC Global exists! I had my examination at SLMC Global and the embassy received my medical result 2 days after. But it's your choice. I can say that IOM and SLMC Global are two of the best in Metro Manila based on my experience and of others. There are also other accredited clinics in Baguio, Cebu, and Davao.

Carla, you should sound humble by using the most polite words. Ako kasi nun nagfollow-up after 3 months kaya medyo nagdemand na ako na bakit on my 13th week e wala pa akong medical request. Hehehe. You can also state that you completely understand the situation in the embassy now (PAFSO strike) and request if they can put your application as a priority since it's just 2 weeks until the start of the Fall Term.

Just talked to the school regarding the start date. They told me that I can start on September 1.
Looks like I'll be extending my stay here in the Philippines. They also gave me tips on how to answer questions of Immigration Officers. The most helpful advice is to answer only what is being asked. (And syempre, tell them that you'll leave after your studies) Hehe

Funny. Naissue na pla sakin ung visa Aug 12 and 13 dito dumating. Ala kasi tao sa bahay noon. Buti nlng at natatawagan embassy. Got it from 2GO.

@carla: did you submit an NBI clearance with your application? Muntik nako madali dun, buti i confirmed with VFS before I applied. It's not on the checklist but they said it's a requirement daw.

CEM might ask for an interview at random but in most cases they will only do it if there's something fishy with your application, but not too fishy that they'd deny you kaagad hehe

POE interview is just like any other immigration screening. Only this time tatanungin ka lang where do you go to school, when will your class start, then ask you to show your original acceptance letter, aside from your Letter of Invitation ... at least that's what I'm told that would happen. haha
