@ Sofia_Haydee: Process of online application is very straight forward. You just to strictly follow the instructions and document specification (including file size).

About the proof of funds, I included a peso and a dollar bank account statements with combined value of approximately $40,000 and a letter of sponsorship from my professor worth $20,000/year for 2 years. As far as I know, you have to have at least funds that can cover your first year expenses (including tuition, accommodation, food, miscellaneous) which usually ranges from $20,000-30,000 depending on your program and school.

Your visa will be processed here in Manila so peso accounts will be fine. You don't need to have bank drafts at these point since your not sure of whether your visa will be granted. You'll need bank drafts when you leave for Canada so you can easily transfer your money from the Philippines to a Canadian bank, unless you already have one.

Other documents like originals, tuition fee payments, accommodation, NBI clearance, Medical certificate, valid passport are only to be submitted once the visa office requests them.

@Sofia_Haydee: I submitted bank statements of my accounts for the past 24 months. I also included bank certificates. I'm not 100% sure if time deposits are acceptable. I think funds should be liquid cash.

Timeline for Online application varies, CIC updates the website weekly.

As of their last update on May 1 ,2013, the website says that March 14 online application are being processed, hence I should have already heard an update from them since I filed on March 3 but I'm among the majority - waiting.

Yes, I had the med request in < 24hours of filing online, delayed my med for 2 weeks due to some earlier commitments....St Lukes (Jorge Bocobo, Ermita) charges P5250 for a simple medical exam - chest xray, physical exam, blood test , results are sent directly to CIC 2 to 3 weeks later but mine took a month before they were able to send it to CIC.

Perhaps the bulk of online applications is too much for the system.

@Dipta: I have actually no idea as of this moment re: medical request. As per Canadian Immigration website, it's a long 15 weeks average processing time.

@smallbird: You're one lucky guy. I should have applied earlier but my requirements are still incomplete. My passport is expiring in a year and I have to renew it since the visa office prefers the passport to be valid for the entire length of the study or else I have to apply for an extension if my passport expires at the middle of the studies. Are all applicants required to have medical examinations?

I don't think that Med exam or Police clearance (NBI clearance) is a must but I may be wrong

@smallbird: Thanks for the info. Why can't they just say that you will be required medical exams and police clearance... Why do they have to keep the applicants guessing if they will require these things or not... I have applied several time for an Australian visa and yet I never got a request for a medical although my visas are short stays where he longest is 6 months. I'll just have to be patient... Hopefully I won't be required to undergo the medical exam so I can allot the money for the fare...

that's the spirit!.... perhaps your regular short visits to Australia is proof enough that you are healthy , free of TB (chest x ray) and communicable disease (blood test).... let's keep posted ...got to go , have work tomorrow.

as far as i know online visa from countries outside canada will be redirected to their own country's in charge offices.

My reason behind this comment is I once read in this forum that someone applied through online but his application was redirected to wrong CHC office so he was asked to apply again.
