hi guys/gals.. what kinds of documents did you submit as proof of funds? will bank certificates do?

I provided them with bank certificates and bank statement of transactions within the last 24 months. It is also written in my Official Letter of Admission that I'll be receiving funding of $20,000/year to indicate my sources of funds.

Are you applying on paper or online?

Paper application..

There's a checklist in the website of the Canadian Embassy in Manila on the requirements. There are also descriptions of the documents required for paper applications. Just follow the instructions and provide the documents and I'm sure you'll get your visa. Please also take note of the average handling time for student visa application. It's a long 15 weeks. So if you're applying for the Fall Term, you should apply before April ends.

You can always try. But not everyone is eligible to apply online. You have to do the assessment first, which is done online as well, to start. Follow the 4 easy steps and your application is now active. With regards to how long it will take, I can only quote POTPOT with the average handling time of 40 days for online application. I cannot find any information in the CIC website for this.

@Sweet Jelly: I only quoted POTPOT in one of her post in this thread. Sorry, but I cannot verify this information in the CIC website.

Hello pinoy fellows. Any updates in your application portfolio?

hi guys, just a newbie question here, what is the minimum band score in ielts para pwede mag study permit? and it should be academic right? or the ielts score depends on the school? thanks.

It's not a requirement for the visa application; rather a requirement for admission. Usually 7.0 is the acceptable level but some schools/university are willing to accept band 6.5 academic score depending on the degree/program.

Hi DocRZ...i got LOA from Canadian College and Im thinking to apply online for my study permit to CEM. Is it easy process to scan and submit documents to apply online? Regarding proof of funds, the following are stated in the cic about the to prove sufficient fund:

proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada;
proof of a student/education loan from a financial institution;
your bank statements for the past four months;
a bank draft in convertible currency;
proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees;
a letter from the person or institution providing you with money; and
proof of funding paid from within Canada if you have a scholarship or are in a Canadian-funded educational program.

is it necessary to include all of them or 4-5 will do...can you explain about bank draft in convertible currency?? I hope you would reply.

@Sofia_Haydee: Process of online application is very straight forward. You just to strictly follow the instructions and document specification (including file size).

About the proof of funds, I included a peso and a dollar bank account statements with combined value of approximately $40,000 and a letter of sponsorship from my professor worth $20,000/year for 2 years. As far as I know, you have to have at least funds that can cover your first year expenses (including tuition, accommodation, food, miscellaneous) which usually ranges from $20,000-30,000 depending on your program and school.

Your visa will be processed here in Manila so peso accounts will be fine. You don't need to have bank drafts at these point since your not sure of whether your visa will be granted. You'll need bank drafts when you leave for Canada so you can easily transfer your money from the Philippines to a Canadian bank, unless you already have one.

Other documents like originals, tuition fee payments, accommodation, NBI clearance, Medical certificate, valid passport are only to be submitted once the visa office requests them.
