if its that so how can i contact with mp n i dont thinks there is any role of mp here in pakistan to getting visa

He is not talking about MP from Pakistan (or home country) rather it is the MP in Canada.

In Canada, MPs have a special line to inquire CIC about any immigration problems. For e.g. in case of a work permit application delay, an employer in Canada would reach out to local MP who in turn contacts CIC to get updates about the situation.

I have been through that and in all honesty there was not much help the MP could do. Because it just a procedural delay with CIC who don't admit there mistakes. However it did end up successfully - though CIC took the time they needed.

I applied online work permit spouse based and got passport submission request on June 19, 2014. Accordingly I submitted my passport on June 24, 2014. Can anyone give me idea how long it takes to get back passport?

hi no idea bcz i m waiting roughly from 6 months since i have applied i haven't heard any one who got his work permit in this forum people are waiting from nov,dec still havent hear any thing yet sinvce they have applied i dont know whats going on with every one.are they going to give us a visa or not its really painfull cant wait more than that.keep sharing ur time line aswell thanks.

6 months is definitely longer for nearly any CIC embassy. You should have emailed after your embassy's regular processing time is already through e.g. if you applied from Pakistan, 16 weeks (4 months) is the norm.

You didn't mention any details. Did you get a file number yet, a medical request any thing? Did you apply online or on paper? I know a good deal of people who applied and got through with in this time frame. And this is not relevant any way. 6 months is a bit more time and you should at least have received an intimation like file number and application is still under process or something.


Send them an email or a case specific inquiry giving your complete details asking for update. Full name, DOB, Passport number, date of submission and tracking number of the means through which you made submission, address, email and contact number. Do that once a month if you haven't received any update.

it was a paper based application my wife was the main applicant n i was her dependent i applied for the open work permit along with her.the day we have applied they have given us tracking no which is still showing in process.company has their own immigration consultant they prepared our file and they said send every thing together like madcial upfront and passport and rest docoments

every time when we check online it says
Visa application, tracking ID No.********************* Your processed passport has been forwarded to the Canada Visa Offlice, ISLAMABAD on **/**/****. To know more, please call VAC helpline number or visit VAC website.

we sent email last month than they ask for the more detail like you mention up than after again quit still waiting for the reply

Since you already submit your passport you should be expecting it back in 5-10 days max. My wife got back in 4 days.

The procedure is same. You receive a passport request for sending passport to embassy. Then you get a visa (trv with type as W-1 worker) and a letter called "letter of introduction" which is approval for work permit. The actual work permit is always issued at the port of entry i.e. airport in Canada.

Hi canfsw,

You are welcome. This deadline is only for Provincial/territorial pilot projects. It does not mean any thing for a normal stream temp worker's dependents who apply for open work permit at CIC. There are no deadlines for those and you can keep applying as long as the principal temp worker's work permit and job are valid.

Yeah i think he was concerned that he cannot apply at all for a skilled worker dependent open work permit at CIC.

Hi all,

I am sharing my timeline for the ease of the rest.

Passport request: June 19, 2014
Passport submitted: June 24, 2014 at VAC Lahore
CIC intimation of visa issuance: July 22, 2014

No intimation from VAC Lahore, I made several calls in between to inquire they said we will text you. I requested them that I am pregnant with 1st child and hubby is already in Canada, parents are too old to travel to Lahore. Please allow my sister to collect it with authority letter. They said case submitted before July 01, 2014 are provisioned for passport collection with authority letter additionally original NIC of applicant (me), all original receipts issued by VAC lahore (Bio metrics, passport submission, fee receipt) and original NIC of the person authorized with blood relationship. I shared that I submitted application on March 11, 2014 and submitted passport on June 24, 2014 they said ok my sister may collect.

She traveled all the way long and reached at VAC Lahore they said they will not give her at any cost because passport submitted on June 24, 2014 but did not reached back before July 01, 2014.

I argued on phone then why you said my sister can collect and you have made me handy I can not travel by air to Lahore and my NIC is with sister and passport with you. very important they publish on site that passport can be returned if waybill is prepaid but at time of submission they said we are not providing this facility.

I applied online and traveled for Biometrics, Medical, passport submission and sister travelled to get passport back. Negotiations failed, my old mother traveled to collect it and collected it finally on July 25, 2014.

All the purpose of online application ruined in travelling. Those who are waiting to collect passport keep it in mind that after 3 days VAC have not sent any intimation to collect passport but they claim they text you in 24 hours.
