We submitted online TRV application for family member in the Philippines more than 2 months ago and nothing came. Regardless of how a person applies TRV, it should not take this long. Certainly online application should not be so much worse than going through the VFS. There is no logical explanation for this.

Oct 14: Online application for my wife and step-daughter received (4pm)

Oct 15: CIC letter: "A decision has been made" and they are requesting both passports to be submitted (6pm)

We must have somehow landed at the top of the pile today! We have a strong application but I certainly didn't expect them to decide so quickly!

Hi there,

Did you apply your wife and step daughter online? Or they did that bu themselves? I'm asking this as I'm planning to apply tourist visa for my mom who is currently living in the Philippines. And do you think is it possible if I invite my step dad as well? He's been with us for 20 years already. Thank you

Hi. Yes, we applied online. We are all living in the Phils right now so I did most of the work and just showed it to my wife. If you are in Canada and your parents in Phils, you yourself can do the application online but just make sure the MyCIC account is in your Mom's name. They can take care of their document scanning and email the scans to you for uploading.

Applying online is much more efficient and cheaper than printing and sending everything. You should be able to invite your step-dad as well. Just make sure you include everything they ask for plus proof that they will leave at the end of their stay (Land titles, Employment Letters, Family Ties, etc.) It is time-consuming and not easy to get documents gathered but once everything is there, it is easy to upload using the MyCIC system, and I'm incredibly impressed by their speed considering a backlog of applications resulting from the strike.

Land titles, Employment Letters, Family Ties, will this be for my parents or from me? I'm still in a work permit but recently got married last August 2013 and my husband will sponsor me under the application for permanent residence spouse INLAND. We haven't submitted our application yet because the requirements we have now is not complete.

did you undergo medical as well? did you have roundtrip ticket? did you have interview?

Wendy, if they returned your application, then I think you would have to apply again and include the proper payment. However, if they still have your application, you can simply send the manager's cheque to them. How did they reply to you? Did they send you the application back? Also, how long did they process the application?

Your parents should prove their ties to the Phils, so they need to provide as much as they can. You yourself should also provide a letter from your employer, as well as bank statements to show that you are capable of supporting them during their trip. The onus is on your folks to provide as much as they can to basically say "look, we have property, jobs, family, etc to go home to after our trip."

We didn't need a medical, haven't bought the tickets yet, and no interview. My wife and step-daughter already spent 2 years living with me in a developed country, so I think they looked at that and said no med needed. The VO knows that no one in their right mind is going to spend thousands of dollars on plane tickets before getting a visa, and interviews are almost never required for tourist visas.

Just look at the list in your MyCIC account and everything will be listed in full detail.

What many people miss is the fact that you can submit "suggested route" instead of actually buying plane tickets. If you submit online TRV application, there is further explanation online which tells you that you can simply submit "suggested route". So the quote above is correct, you do not need to spend money on plane ticket before getting the visa.

Like I wrote before, applied online for wife/stepdaughter Oct. 14, passport request letter Oct. 15.

We sent the passports to the VAC Oct. 16, and they were returned by courier to us yesterday Oct.23, with two TRVs inside.

It took less than 24 hours for them to decide, and 1 week to receive, affix the visa, and return the passports to us.

A job extremely well done by CIC and the Manila Visa Office! Still amazed how quick this was considering the usual processing times and the catching up they're doing after the labour dispute.

What reasons did they give you to refuse your TRV? Did you include bank statement to the application?

Yes I did include my bank statement and the letter of support of my fiancee and but they refused me coz i don't have or we don't have family ties included.

Is it still possible that I can still apply a visitors visa as a wife?
