One year programme with one year work permit

Hi friends.
I intend to apply for a post graduate diploma certificate in
canada. its a one year course and i have been told that i will get
a one year work permit with it. After my work permit is over do
I have to come back to India . i know about the point system PR
for canada. what if i dont qualify for it , would it mean i have to
come back to India . what are the ways I can stay back over
there. please give all the options available . your suggestions
are very valuable to me . Thank You in advance

If you find an employer during the one year work permit who will help you apply for a regular work permit, you would be able to stay. The employer can also help you apply for your immigration through a provincial nominee program or if you manage to get another work permit long enough that you complete 2 years of full time skilled work, you could apply through Canadian experience class.

these days many consultants are stating that according to new visa rules which have changed that now a student can get a three year work permit even after a one year study , what is the view on this from the consultants in canada ...??

I haven't heard about it. If you check the CIC website, you will see this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad-who.asp Those are the same rules as before, a 1 year course gets you a 1 year permit but a 2 years course or longer can get you up to 3 years.
