Hi

My Spouse and I applied for Inland Residency for me (I am British and she is Canadian). They received our application in June 2014.

We have just recently learnt about the open work permit that I can apply for which is great because I have just been getting frustrated that I can't work and the waiting time just keeps getting longer and longer. We're having to try and live on her wage.

There is just a couple of things that aren't clear to us.
-Do I need to do another medical or is the one I did for the PR in May 2014 ok? Will they just look at the one in my PR application.
-The checklist says you need a job offer from an employer but I guess for the open work permit you just don't send one.
-My current visitor visa will expire on May 6th 2015, do I have to extend that at the same time or before I apply for the work permit.

No. The Medical you did earlier is good.

You do not need a Job Offer for an OWP. If you have one that will be an advantage.

You will need to apply for extension of your Visitor Visa before expiration. You must have a legal status in Canada when you send your application for OWP, which you do at this time.

I believe you can submit your OWP application online and do mention that you have already applied for PR (INLAND), so that your OWP is processed under the Pilot program. Though, you should have opted for OUTLAND Processing when you applied. Outland is quicker and better. Good Luck.

Thanks for the information, not having to have a medical is good, that will save time and money.

We know now, that we should have applied outland but at the time of application the processing time was the same and if we were called for an interview we would have had to have gone to London.
