my questions is if is possible to buy one way ticket
to Canada... Or has to be round trip ???

If my spouse has her passport with Visa and Confirmation of
Permanent Residence I believe that should not be any problem....

We are getting close to the date when my spouse will be traveling
and I don't know what is the experience of others....

Can anybody share please....

it will depend on the airline. i believe some airlines require foreign travelers to have a return ticket, and they sometimes don't accept COPR as proof of residency. Most people will order a refundable ticket to bypass this issue.

Thank you very much, that is a good option....

Anybody has experience with Philippines Airlines...which would be the most likely airline that we will use....

A one way ticket is going to be fine for your wife. She will have her COPR and her visa in her passport allowing her entry. The airlines know what this is.

I really believe that a one-way ticket is gonna be fine :). Even though the COPR may not be enough as proof of (future) residency, there's that visa glued to the passport, and the visa will clearly indicate "IMMIGRANT", so it has an implied meaning that the bearer has been granted permission, by Canada, to remain in Canada indefinitely :).

Hi. I have booked for a one way ticket to Vancouver with Philippine Airlines. They just checked my passport for the "Immigrant" visa and confirmed the booking with no issues at all.

As a travel agent I can let you know that a one way ticket will be fine...also it may be cheaper to book a round trip out of Asia then to book a one way. You need to look at the prices and compare. Booking a round trip, not using the return protion and throwing it away, is sometimes a lot cheaper then booking that one way. May people use this options to save 1000's of dollars sometimes. This goes for Europe as well. North American the most fares are based on one ways flights so it's not an issue.

The charter companies out of Canada and Europe sometimes don't allow for oneways. This would be flights using Sunwing, Air Transat, Thomas Cook etc. It all depends on the rules of the fare your booking and where you are travelling to/from

As a travel agent, you will also be aware that throwaway ticketing is expressly prohibited by most carriers, with possible financial penalties for the ticket purchaser AND seller.

It is however it is also called a no show if you don't call to cancel the return portion. You are allowed to no show and to forfeit the return protion if you don't call to cancel it.

It is not illegal. It's just frowned upon. An airline cannot prove that you couldn't make your flight based on emergency or travel delay en route from somewhere else. I use hidden city ticketing all the time to get places for cheaper. Legally the only thing they can do to "punish" someone is take away their air miles. Big deal, lol.

I never said that it was illegal. It is however potentially a breach of the terms and conditions of carriage. Travel agents can be penalised by the carrier. What the airline can legally do will depend on which jurisdiction the contract was made in.

Since the sponsored person is from the Philippines (I assume since she will be using Philippine Airlines) like I said, PAL doesn't have those kinds of rulings granted that the passenger is an "Immigrant".
