Hey guys,

I am looking at airline tickets for my husband and they are a lot more than I was anticipating. I was wondering if any of you know any good websites where you can find one way tickets for a reasonable price.

Thanks :)

You could call the flight centre, I got a return flight cheaper than one way.

Air Transat and Iceland Air both do around half priced one-way tickets from most major European cities.

I am a travel agent as well and you can always book a fake return date to get a lower fare ticket if you find the one ways are too much. The airlines don't normally like you doing that however everyone does it to get lower fares. Also it all depends on where you are flying from. If from Europe over to Canada try to book a return with at least a Saturday night stay. Shop around and look at different website.

thanks guys! I was looking last night and I couldnt find anything under 1600$ which is insane, whereas return tickets are so much cheaper. I am going to look into it more right now but I was wondering if we book a return ticket and just not show up..will they question him at the immigration office once he lands? that is my only fear since my husband speaks limited english I dont want them to think that he is planning to re tun back home. Does anyone know if this would cause a problem when he lands? if not then i think i will just book a 2 way flight and save a lot of money lol

Here in Brazil, one way Air Canada tickets to Toronto are a lot more expensive (like three times more) than round trips. We're buying round trip, even though we're not going to use it.

It would sure be cool if the tickets could then be transferable.....for example, lets say your return ticket is way cheaper yet you won't use, yet someone wanted to go where your coming from to visit their spouse....they could buy off you for extreme discount....I think that would help a lot of people if that could be made possible.

I wonder if travel agents can make that happen?

Cheers!

it isn't up to the travel agents to make them transferable...that is up to the airlines. Believe me I would love to be able to do it for a lot of people

No immigration won't question him....they won't even look at this ticket. And even if he did have one he is allowed to leave the country with his PR card :)

I always check ITA Software - they build the search engine used by the airlines. Their own site shows all available flights and published rates. The only way to do better is to buy from a consolidator. When you search other sites, they bias the selection towards specific airlines generally (based on who is paying for the site...)

You can't - it just shows you all the options that are available.

Where are you flying from? The two airlines I cited (Air Transat and Iceland Air) follow the budget air line technique of genuinely charging less for one-way flights (my LON-TOR was 200 GBP) but any major airline is going to cost more.

An unused return ticket shouldn't cause any problems as unfortunately this is the norm..........would advise booking the return relatively far in advance incase your spouse does need to pop back for any reason than there is plenty of time to move the dates.
