Hey guys,

Just wanted your opinion on something. I am working as a billing analyst with a big company and am being paid 21/hour. The job requirements are a univ degree, almost completion of CPA CMA, MS excel skills etc.

This job according to NOC falls under 1311 Accounting technician. My question is these days high level jobs usually require completion of a designation along with 3-4 years of experience. A university undergrad would not have that right away which makes it tough for me to stay in Canada. I know I can't fight with the officials but isn't there any way of getting a PR under these circumstances?

I recently interviewed with one of the biggest law firms in Canada who are willing to pay $50k/annually for the same role (NOC code 1311). I cannot be an accountant with less experience and qualification but have invested time and money in Canada. Have been here for 6 years and would probably have to leave next summer.

Unfortunately, 1311 is not eligible under CEC, you may try PNP.

Are you enrolling in any designation like CGA, CMA? If so, try yo apply for a position close to proper accountant with your previous exp.

I have only 1 year left on my work permit. A designation would take at least 3 years. It's a tricky situation. I need to marry a Canadian. Going to start working out.

Haha.. Yeah, it is a real "Express Entry".

But I guess when the new law starts from next year, the people with jobs in Canada should have advantages to get the PR. At that time, I believe, there would not be banned occupations as long as you have a skilled job and authentic employer. Hope for the best!

I hope you are right. There are many people like me who have no choice as they are under noc 1311. I heard the "express entry" that will start from next year would make it even tougher. Some are saying Canada is following the US model in which employers would have to play a major role in getting their PR. My brother applied for sponsorship in 2009 for my parents and put me as a dependent. At that time I was in my university. I mentioned this before and someone told me I should be ok based on my brother's application but I should have a plan B in case it doesn't work out.

I am positive though, started playing 649 as well. I hit a few million and would be happy to leave. I would probably start my own country.

It would be tougher for the people who do not have genuine skills to meet the need to the country. I don't think Canada is following States model, actually it is more like Australia and New Zealand, I.e. the express of interests. It should be easier for the people who have graduated here and have work and life exp here like you, so I believe you would have more chance. Be positive man!

Best luck on your lottery play! ;)

I think you should check the provincial programs if you have relevant job offer and experience.

I was one of those fortunate to sneak onto CEC with NOC 1311, I was kinda surprised to see it removed in November considering it takes a fair amount of knowledge and skill and ( I'm sure I'll get some hate here) that other skill level B jobs should be targeted rather than 1311.

If you're in BC than the Provincial Nominee Program should work out for you, i'm not sure about other provinces.

Good luck!

I think it (along with others) was suspended from CEC due to supply outstripping demand - not because it's considered unskilled

BC would be an option too. I have started applying for jobs there. Express entry would have particular jobs as well that would qualify. I think CEC should consider 1311 for the last time before the express entry starts.

Thanks for your help guys, I appreciate it.

Can't you apply under FSW now after the recent openinings ?

I recently contacted NOC and they said my job falls under noc code 1311. I can tweak it a bit but my responsibilities do not include preparing financial statement. It is mostly bank rec, cost center rec, balance sheet analysis, journal entries.

If I was working as a supervisor but was earning $13/hour, full time with benefits. Would it be a red flag for immigration canada?

What type of work permit do you have? If it is closed one, what is the NOC code there?
