Hi. I would like to apply for immigration to Canada.
I am living currently in US, and I am keeping all my money in my wife's account in my home country. Is it fine to present the financial statement in her name , or the account should be in my name ?
I have asked two offices , and one of them ( David Cohen ) told me that financial statement
for wife's balance should be fine, but the other one said that the account should be mine, or at least a joint account for me and her, but cannot be her account, especially that I will be the principal applicant.
Which one of them is right ?
Also, when I am supposed to present this document, as the first one told me that it should be submitted together with other documents when my application get pre-approved, and should be submitted within 120 days, but the other office said that the financial statement can be postponed until I got the approval and they will ask me then to present a financial statement or an arranged employment, but not presenting it within the 120 does not matter at all.
Again, which one of them is right here ?
Thanks for your help

David Cohen is right you can show your wife bank statement if she is also included in your application. If your wife is not included in the application then statement should be only in your name.

Your are supposed to provide financial statement at the time of submitting the full docs so first one is right. Financial statement + all other documents should be sent to the visa office with 120 days.

Thanks for your help

Funds can be in your wife's name provided she is part of your application. Also to play safe do not move all funds to your wife accounts from now on so that there are some funds in your account too.

You need to provide Proof of funds when you send full docs to visa office in second stage. You need to maintain the funds till you get the Visa and you will needs the funds at your Port of Entry too

Hi,
I will repeat my question here as long as it relates to the same subject.
What I have to provide exactly?
Bank statement that shows I have the required amount for last consecutive months or,
Bank certificate stated that I have the required amount in my account at the moment of issuing the certificate?

Regards
Om Mona

Hi,

You just need to prove that you have sufficient funds in the account and you can do that by only showing the bank certificate stating the current account balance at the moment But CHC can ask you later to provide 3 months statements if they think that these are not your funds and you have borrowed it. So it is recommended to show atleast 3 months statement so that CHC dont question it later. Rest is upto you if you have required funds in the account for 3 months or more then its better to show 3 months statement.
