On Campus Work For International Students : How Many Hours ?

Hi,

Can International Student work more than 20 hours per week if the job is on campus ?


CIC On Campus Website Page doesn't state any limit on number of hours :

Law : Section 186(f) also doesn't say any limit for on-campus number of hours per week. In contrast, law 186(v) specifically says 20 hours per week off-campus during study session and full time when on break.

(Private business operating on-campus is also included. Thus, any restaurant/cafe which is inside the college/university is included).

See "Conditions For Work" in the above webpage. It states :

"There are no legal restrictions preventing students from working on-campus in addition to working the maximum 20 hours per week off-campus."

Thus, in addition to no limit for on-campus job hours per week, students can also work 20 hours additional off-campus per week ?

Thus, Is it okay if a student is working 30 hours per week on-campus during study time ? (All 30 hours are on-campus, no off-campus) ?

On campus job is a job in the campus that you are currently studying in.


Where you can work
“On-campus” means you can work at all the buildings on your school campus. If your school has more than one campus, you may only work at the campus where you’re studying in most cases.

You can work at other locations if

• you’re working as a teaching or research assistant and
• your work is strictly related to a research grant

In this case, you may work at a library, hospital or research facility associated with your school, even if they’re outside the campus.
