Guys,

I have a question regarding passports.

If we have an old & a new passport, should they be attached/clubbed together during passport submission ?
Anyone who has done so ?

Hi Canadavisa07, I had the same question in my mind yesterday. But since we have given the new passport number on our application, I have only submitted the new one yesterday. Now, if I get back mine with the visa stamped, I'll know that the new one was enough else ... :D

Hi tdcec,

Thanks for your reply. One of my friend advised me to attach the passports while sending them to CIC so wanted to check if this is a general practice followed in case one has two passports.
Anyway, let me know one you get your passport back. Good Luck to you !!

BTW, do you have a US visa ?

Yes, I will let you know once I get the passports back. And I do have a valid US visa.

Would you be sending both the passports attached together once you receive your PPR ?

Hi Canadavisa07....I haven't got the passport request yet ;) but my assumption is that you should be fine with only the new passport. I have an expired passport as well and I got a multiple entry visa stamped from Buffalo in 2011 on my New passport (I only sent new passport with my visa application) while my initial entry visa when I first came to Canada in 2009 was on my Old passport.

Hope that helps

Hi PB02.. Thanks for your input. My concern is that my old passport has my US visa and I entered my old passport number in my initial PR application but later sent in a revised application with new passport number.

So CIC would have a record of my old passport as well. That's the reason am thinking of sending both my passports.

Seniors, any advice on this ?

There is no problem in attaching the old passport with new one , I have my old passport attached while i applied for Canada TRV several times and even when i applied VISA for other countries, In my case it is always stapled together. VISA will be stamped to your new passport.

How to inform CIC if there is a new passport issued , I need this info for my wife case.?

Just send them an email attaching a copy of your new passport. They will do the needful.

I think then it makes sense to send both the passports :)
