Hi dear friends,

New to the forum, absolutely love coming to this place, for the resourceful information and great people here! I totally understand and feel the frustration for the wait time for OINP, I am one of you who is waiting patiently.

As of me, I originally came from China, finished my Canadian degree and worked professional job for a bank. I applied OINP under CEC Human Capital Stream in Jan 2016 and received my AOR in Jun 2016, but my post-graduate work permit also expired in Jun 2016. Since I was not qualify for BOWP back then, instead of taking a promotion from my company, I had no choice but resign from my job and stay in Canada unemployed with a Visitor Record (valid until Dec 2017).

Now I am waiting in Canada with no income and the OINP approval seemed to take forever! I did my research and it seems that for Visitor Record, it expires when you leave Canada and it does not guarantee re-entry, which means my PR will be at risk if I ever leave Canada (in case the boarder officer refuses my entry). It has been two months of waiting for me, assume the ONIP takes another 3-6 months to come (finger-crossed) and 6 months for PR, does that mean I have to stay and wait in Canada with no income for about another year or even longer??

Trust me friends, pause all your life plans and wait with no income is very, very frustrating and depressing. I tried to be positive but knowing how slow the OINP goes. I am afraid more and more people will have to face the same situation. I would like to know if there are people like me in this forum and what your plans are. Also, once when I submitted my PR application inland, can I apply for a TRV to leave Canada, wait in my home country and come back to Canada when the landing paper arrives?

Thank you very much and good luck everyone!

I think you will be eligible for bridge work permit once you receive ITA and submit application to CIC. That means maybe you only need to wait for several months before you can work in Canada again.

Wish you all the best!

In the same boat as you, I've decided to apply for a visitors visa and return home, i applied in OCT 2015, and I'm yet to hear back from ONIP

Sad to hear that but i know OINP takes forever to give approval. I am sure the visitor permit you have is a one way entry. If you leave once, it's gone you can not come back. Try checking that once, OINP may take even longer then that but even if u got OINP you will still need to go for PR via EE, how will you get work permit besides that ?

Without a job its going to be very hard especially when "Winter is Coming :) "

If you don't have any resolutions, waiting in home country is best solution,
