OINP question: Currently residing outside Ontario

Hi guys,

Just got a quick question:

So I've applied for OINP and currently am just waiting for the AOR etc etc.

I currently am residing in Calgary, Alberta and I worked there for the past year (working holiday visa, because it's close to the mountains).
But I've sinced decided I want to move to Ontario to further my career etc.

I have heard that some applicants were given some trouble by OINP and CIC because they lived in Canada outside the nominating province before applying.
Will this be a problem for me ?

I have no problem giving a settlement plan and I've written a letter of intent for OINP stating all my reasons of wanting to move there & my future plans.
But I am currently still living in Alberta jobless because if i get rejected, i'll have to go back home to New Zealand.

So, ....do they (CIC and OINP) give you trouble if you've lived in a province outside ontario before applying for OINP ?

Putting aside the OP seeming very impatient for an answer bumping 4 times, twice within 45 minutes as though this is some kind of realtime chat which it is not probably best repost in the provincial nomination thread see if get an answer there.

Hey Mikek27,

You really do not need to worry about rejection at this point. The officer will most probably ask you to prove or convince them that you have genuine intention of moving to ON. If the officer is satisfied with your explanation, yes definitely your application will be approved and they just do not reject your file right away just because you are living outside ON. The CIC, for sure will ask you to provide a settlement plan if you still reside outside ON once you receive your nomination. It is advised to provide your settlement plan along with your eAPR even though they do not ask for it. Hope this helps.

If you are living in Calgary, you are living in a different Province, so why would Ontario want to give you extra points
when Ontario have plenty of people already residing in Ontario wanting to get the extra points?

There are no set formula in getting approved or getting rejected. Everything is up to the officers, and how they perceive the information you give them.

If I were the officer in charge of evaluating your application, I would consider less of you, than someone very close to you, who already lives in Ontario.

If what you're saying is right then more than half of OINP applications would be rejected or if you were the officer, you would consider less of most of the applicants who reside outside Ontario (FSW outland).

Yeah I'm only living in Alberta right now because that's where I last was employed. I am a visitor now and don't have a work permit, so it's solely to save some money. If i were to move to Ontario now without any confirmation or indication of my Permanent Residency application being approved, it'll put more burden on my financial status as the plane ticket, and finding an apartment to live itself is costly.
If i have the nomination or copr from CIC then yeah of course i'd move...in a heartbeat. Because then I know I can start start applying and interviewing for jobs soon.

They cant refuse your application on the basis of your "Intention". Yes, its necessary to give a strong reason to move to Ontario. that will be enough...!!!

Have you included proof of your job search in Ontario in your application?? If yes, then well and good. If not, then better apply now and if requested, you can show email printouts of jobs applied in Ontario.

Yep, included print-outs of of the jobs i've applied for (the emails I sent and the job ads)
