Hi Guys,
Lemme thank you guys first for helping so many of us with queries. You guys are awesome.
I have a few POF related questions. Would appreciate your feedback. I am expecting OINP PT in Feb.

1. I opened a new NRO/NRE account with HDFC India in Oct 2015, which will be 4 months old when I get the bank statement/average. Will that be a problem?
2. I received CAD 18,000 in this account as gift from my father (gift deed & affidavit are done) in November. Should I wait for 6 months to accept OINP PT or accept it in Feb?
3. Apart from receiving gift amount, I transferred some of my savings in 2-3 transactions to the account (around CAD 3,000). Do I have to provide explanation about how I got those amounts? In summary, do I have to explain every credit in this account?

Thanks in advance.

Answer to all your questions is that provide them a Balance Certificate which will tell balance in your account and apply for OINP. You ll receive AOR after 2 months. After AOR if they query about funds then by that time your funds ll be 6 months old.
And in that much time keep your gift deed ready so that if required you can provide that also.

Thanks in advance.

No.

Accept it when you get it. The 6 month requirement from CIC is to confirm that you haven't borrowed the funds. In your case, gift deed & affidavit confirm that.

3. Apart from receiving gift amount, I transferred some of my savings in 2-3 transactions to the account (around CAD 3,000). Do I have to provide explanation about how I got those amounts? In summary, do I have to explain every credit in this account?

If the POF requirement in your situation is more than 18000, you might have to explain these transactions. But by the time you apply to OINP/CIC, they would've been in your account for long enough to not cause trouble.

Thanks in advance.

  • I am interested in this topic too.

I changed the principal applicant (PA) to my wife account, as she got better CRS than me, for OOPNP
the challenge is, our money is currently under my account. And, I just created a join account under out both name, which then I plan to move the money from my personal account to this joint account.

    - What should I do for this? If need gift of deed and affidavit, does it mean that I made these letter, confirming that I am intentionally to transfer the amounts to this joint account to be used for Immigration purposes?
    - Could I know the format of these two letters?

    Thank you for your attention

You only need Gift Deed if the money is borrowed. If it has been your/your wife's money all the while just an explanation in LOE is enough.
Please check the following link for all the formats for your reference:

Many thanks for your answer.
So, what else do I need beside LOE? Do I need also attached the transaction history of my personal account?

This is correct. With the corollary that you will be required to prove source of funds in your account even if you transfer the money into the joint account.
