Hi Guys,
I am looking to apply for OINP when it opens in November. Can someone shed me some light on the process? How long does it takes ?
Firstly there is no guarantee OINP will open in November.... They are still well behind in backlogs completing only AORs still for January applicants... After AOR there is background checks, then nominations... Anyway the previous process was as follows. You register on EE profile and if you have over 400 points, you would automatically receive a notification in EE profile stating OINP is interested in your profile. They ask for $1500 DD along with a list of documents which you need to mail. Once that is sent, they take between 3-6 months (In our cases 6-8 months) to review your file and adjudge if they want to nominate you or not. Usually if all documents are in order, they send out AOR first, then nomination a few months later.
Do we need to stay in the country during the process of our application? or can we leave for a few months after applying for OINP?
It doesnt matter. As long as you keep OINP informed of your latest status.
Do they call your company?
Not during AOR process. But yes, during verification they do call the company.
How efficient is OINP?
Currently they are as bad as they get lol... Lots of issues and complaints. But still they are the easiest to get nomination from (According to me)

The draft I submitted has a spelling mistake. Instead of "hundred" it spells "hunderd"!
Unfortunately I only noticed this last night while scanning the draft. Don't know how I missed this. But the bank says they will clear it. Even they did not notice the error till I pointed it out to them earlier today.
Also, in words it says "CAD One thousand five hunderd only". I hope they have not sent it back because it does not say "Canadian dollars" instead of "CAD".
Anyways, the bank has issued me a letter stating that the draft is valid and I will send an email to OINP later today. Will keep you all posted.

Indeed, we regularly share the pros and cons, the probabilities of OINP issuing, speeding AOR's NOM's on a daily basis, keeping up our hopes.
Lack of transparency, generic responses, return of applications on petty grounds, denying committed resubmissions, delays are utterly shocking.
Seems, its a deliberate strategy, policy to delay, distress applicants, forcing the applicants to look for other avenues.
Abnormal delays tantamount to denials. I wish what I am expressing is completely wrong.
How long can we can remain in extreme anxiety, unpleasant feelings or emotions that impact our daily lives, level of functioning.
Many qualified, experienced applicants like us have spent time preparing, sending applications after we were invited thru PT, NOI.
What's our mistake; fail to understand.
Everyday stress to hopefuls, is adding up to the woes of majority of the applicants.
None of our mails to concerned authorities, minister, ombudsman has resulted in addressing the concerns.

Well no AOR yet.. Calling them hasn't got anywhere since I keep getting that guy who tells everyone it will take 2 to 3 weeks for the AOR. I don't think he even checks the file before he answers..
I sent them a fax today, so that's all I can do now I suppose. I just don't want them to tell me after some time that we gave u 15 days after aor to send the new dd and you did not (even though I did not even get the AOR). That would really suck..

hopeless people not to reply applicants with urgent query. Just write VERY URGENT in the title and send another Fax.
They normally do not specify time limit for sending new DD. They wont start the processing until they receive the new DD.

Hope you have checked your spam mail thoroughly for the last 2 weeks and also check the email address you mentioned in the form you had submitted to oinp, a dot here and there can make all the different and in the AOR mail which i got they didn't mention any time limit on receiving the new DD, what they mentioned was that your file will be put on hold till the time we get the new DD ....

My only real concern was that they have some deadline for the new dd. Else, I wouldn't be on their case so much.
Anyway, their policy seems to be dictated by the direction of the wind these days. Better to not take any chances.

Why will they read this forum; they are getting their salaries for little / no work and are not accountable for their productivity.
It's their prerogative, they are government institution. Nobody to question.
