Anyway guys I am currently engaged in finding out the answer to this -

Eligibility for the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) occupations category

To be eligible, you must

  • have accumulated, within the past 3 years, at least 6 months of continuous work experience (in Canada or abroad) in a single occupation listed in the table below
  • meet all of the requirements in the instructions for that round

    URL - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...ions/category-based-selection.html#wb-auto-20
As per someone on the FSW THREAD - The 3-year period is calculated from the date your Express Entry profile was created. But no one knows.

I would request all of you to start doing the research and finding this out as its crucial to find the answer to this.
  • The question is - Past 3 years from when - Profile creation/ITA/AOR?

Logically it would be from the day of the draw....
Otherwise I would tell them that it doesn't matter if my IELTS expired because it was not expired when I created the profile.

I think IELTS is a different aspect. Here its about work ex calcualtion.

And there logic is the following:

Bro, you need to have met requirements BEFORE you submit an application. How do you think eligibility only counts from the day you get your ITA when you won't get an ITA if you don't meet req? And it can't possibly be from AOR either for aforementioned reason.

Seniors are saying from profile creation. God knows who is right

I saw the thread, I don't wanted to be in the discussion.

Just take it like this...
The 6 months requirement in a STEM or a Healthcare category draw it is just for the category draw... It is not to create a profile. There are other requirements to create a profile and you should meet all of them to create a profile the day you submit of course.

Let's say something like, you work as a lawyer for 5 years. With that you can open an EE profile..

Then you want to be selected for a STEM draw, that means that you will need to complete 6 months of work experience in a certain NOC before the draw.

You will have your profile open because you meet the requirements for that, but then you will have to wait 6 months of work experience in your new NOC if you want to be selected for a category draw.

Why not participate in the convo? Others answer you right?

Those discussions lead to nothing and it just leads to anxiety and even if we knew the answer, that wouldn't change anything. I think we have to patiently wait till next week.
Right, makes sense. Well I did my part and got as much info as I could.

Also, I am guessing some people on this thread health ones have gotten an ITA Today. Please share guys. Let us know.

I believe the eligibility rules are same for Health, Tech and other categories.

Thanks for trying to find out the answers dragon!!

The one thing I noticed about Express Entry and Canada in general is that : if you have an ITA / NOI (OINP in this case) dont look at whats happening otherwise in the draws. Get your PR done. You never know what will happen tomorrow and what will change. Express entry is uncertain. Unless you actually get an ITA in Express Entry dont withdraw OINP. 1300 CAD is not a big amount in the grand scheme of things, its just an opportunity cost.

Totally True! May be even better dont withdraw since there will be no refund. If we get an ITA and a nomination is submitted after that, can we just decline it?

I dont know if this is the right time to bring this up.... From what I hear, it seems Canada job market is not so good (at least for this year) and people within Canada are finding it difficult to land a job.

So my question is why Canada keeps inviting immigrants under such circumstances? Do you guys know if this is true? any thoughts on this?

once you get an ITA your express entry profile is locked and unavailable for Ontario to send you anything. So by default you decline any nomination. In my case my points have already dropped this month cause of age to 470 from 476 and I only attempted IELTS again for an adequate score so I wont be anywhere near 470 anymore after 19th July. Basically if I do get a nomination on July 5 I will only have 2 weeks to apply or wait for OINP.

For others who don't have any such problems they might want to apply. For me if I don't get OINP NOI, Ill have to retake IELTS which I personally hate.
