Hi Raj and others,

I was going through the documents required for the OINP application, and would like to clarify on the notary certifications.

Do we need to get all the documents notarized? or applicable only for few documents?

In the comprehensive guide -- this topic -- started and maintained by Raj, certificates like education related, etc are mentioned as 'regular' photocopies or just as photocopies can be submitted. Somewhere else, I remember, notarization required.

Can anyone guide me?

Thanks and Regards,
GV
Notarization is not required for all the documents. It is mainly needed for translations if the document is not in English/French. If you don't get the reference letters in the company's letterhead then it is better to be notarized. I had a copy of notarized degree certificate and marriage certificate already, so i submitted them, but it is not mandatory. They are asking for notarization only for translated documents.

Thanks, Sri.

I was thinking about getting these documents -- all pages of passport, marriage certificate, employment documents -- notarized. Passport contains date of birth, and I guess, we don't need a Birth certificate included.

And rest of the documents as mere photocopies.

Also regarding the demand draft, I noticed that Form 15CA is enough per updated IT policy (no need of 15CB). If you or anyone has any suggestions, please add here, so I can take note of before sending the application package.

Thanks and Regards,
GV

Sorry, I am replying to my own post just made.

I meant only the inside pages of passport copies as regular photocopies, and just the front and back side notarized.

Thanks and Regards,
GV

Precisely. Notarization is NOT required for your education docs. I had submitted a reference letter that was not on the letterhead and did NOT get it notarized but it was accepted anyway but I strongly recommend applicants to notarize reference letters that are not on the letterhead.

If any of your documents are not in English or French, you need to get them translated AND notarized. You should submit both the versions to OINP and CIC (post ITA).

Hello, I got the bank draft from ICICI India and i had to provide the complete address which i got from their website. Also, in india the banks ask for Form 15CA and i got it done from a chartered accountant and charged 4K. I didnt know about these things and didnt want to get the application delayed. But i think you can fill it in incometax website yourself and Form 15CB may not be required.
I took the draft from ICICI bank and they asked for no such form. I just had to fill a form with the details (such as the name of the recipient) and sign the form - that's all.

Applicants from HDFC bank had the same trouble of having to hire a CA to fill up the forms you mentioned. I got the draft without any hassle.

Hi Raj,

Thank you very much for your reply. Congratulations on your Nomination to OINP. I had a couple of follow-up questions to your reply. I request your reply as I am stuck with these.

1. My CRS score is 434 and not 457 as the impression is getting created. 457 is the cut-off score for the last CIC draw. Do you really mean that if I can submit documented proof for all what I mentioned in my express entry profile for CIC, I can get nominated by OINP?.

AFAIK, the rejection rate of OINP applicants is far less compared to the rejection rates of other provinces. I have seen only a handful of applicants being rejected - The prime reasons being wrong NOC code, not having at least a Bachelors degree and not having at least 1 year work experience in the past 5 years!

Having said that, OINP, lately, had given its applicants a chance to change the NOC (if they find another NOC suits better). So, unless there is a blunder with your documentation, you are likely to receive a nomination.

2. As per your email, if write in my LOE that " per Indian passport rules, one can get his/her pass port re-issued / renewed only within one year of date of expiry", would be enough?. Do I have attach a copy of the document from Passport office with my LOE also?. The following is the exact copy from the Passport India website.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Re-issue of Passport: You can apply for re-issue of passport if you are applying for another passport in lieu of an existing passport for any of the following reasons:

1. Your passport has either expired or is about to expire. You can apply for re-issue of passport up to one year before expiry or within three years after the expiry of the existing passport without fresh police verification, provided there is clear police report with respect to your previous passport and there is no adverse entry in the system.

There are other reasons which I am not writing here.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I believe a LOE will do but if you do want to attach this excerpt from the site, feel free to do so - no harm in that.

3. I have 11 years of experience and I have mentioned my past two employers( 8 Years of Exp. ) and present employer( 3 years of Exp.) in EE profile. Does it mean that I have to get a reference letter from my present employer. I am trying to avoid my present employer as it would be good to tell my boss that I am looking out.

You need to provide documentation only for the jobs you are claiming points for. If you are not claiming points for your current employer, you need not provide reference letters. Highlight this in a LOE - tell them you are not providing documentation for your current employer because you are not claiming any points for this. Include all documents mentioned in the guide for your previous employers.
Good luck and all the very best!

I don't have enough words to thank you for putting the application guide, i am sure it will help every new applicants.

Thank you. Glad you found it helpful.

I am from Bangalore, is there any one in same boat from bangalore, please ping me.

I have submitted my application on 30th January 2016 and waiting for AOR. After going through your guide, i realized i have done a few mistakes like, didnt attach a letter from bank, the statements provided are taken online and didnt have the seal etc which i think are minor things and have provided more than double the amount so it may not be an issue, i assume.

The things I have put in the guide is for the applicants to create a foll-proof application. Minor deviations might not have an impact on the application. In your case, I speculate that the officer is just going to accept the application and then request additional documentation post AOR instead of returning your application back to you.

If i had seen your guide earlier i could have done better.

Also, i am not sure whether i provided the ECA report which is taken from WES website or the photocopy of the report they mailed. Anyway, they have received the report directly from WES. I saw a few people saying WES returned around 40CAD from the 75CAD they charged for the duplicate but i didnt get any refund yet. Do we have to ask for it, anyone?

You should automatically get the refund within 7 - 8 working days. If you don't, then you can write to them using the form below -

http://wes.org/support/

Waiting eagerly for the AOR like many out there!!! I guess the normal period is 8 weeks and it is not even 2 weeks:)

I thought i should put one of my experience here. I had created my express entry profile during December 2015 and received PT with in a week. I have then started collecting the documents and while filling the application i found that the NOC code entered in profile is wrong. When i created the profile i didnt check it properly and put 2175. I realized that it is 2174 and got the reference letters from employers accordingly. But when i updated the profile, i changed it in the occupation code tab but missed it on work experience tab and thereby the profile got inactivated and there was no way to revoke it. I got a reply from CIC saying i have to start a new profile and i did it on january 11th and got the PT on same day.
This is a very common mistake that the applicants make. If you are changing your primary NOC, you need to be careful. You would have to change it in 2 places - One in the drop down in the work history section and one in the table below.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hi,

Can you please tell me how much time it takes now to hear back from them on our nomination after we have sent the application package for ONIP CEC.

Thanks in Advance,
You will first receive an AOR. For CEC applicants, this usually takes 4 - 6 weeks and nomination will follow shortly after that.

Hi Raj,

Thanks for all the info, Now i am struck with one last thing before i submit ,How should i make the notary of the employee reference letters can you please provide a sample do the notary has to contain the print of the reference letter content . Am very confused about this notary of reference letter thing .
Get the reference letter on a plain paper. Go to a person who is authorized to notarize stuff. Give him a COPY of your reference letter (please note that he will NOT notarize the original reference letter on plain paper directly). He will place a "Notary" stamp on your reference letter and place another stamp that says "Attested" and sign below it.

Birth Certificate is a MANDATORY document. If you have a BC, please submit it. If you don't, you need to present them with some other evidence (10th certificate etc) and explain it in a LOE.

Like already mentioned, I have heard applicants who took a draft from HDFC bank telling me that they had to submit both Form 15 CA and CB. I took a draft from ICICI and I had to submit neither.

Hi all,

First of all, Congrats raj for the AOR and hopefully we will get to hear the good news of nomination, pretty soon as well. For now I have few questions here
1 . As discussed earlier, I dont have a DOB certificate, So I need to write a LOE and for the Bank funds also, I need to write one because funds were not there during the last 6 months. So if you can please suggest, should I write 2 separate letters or put both of the topics under one ?

2. For Reference letter, Letter of contract, Letter of confirmation and letter of Increment, Is it ok, if I send the photocopies only ? For reference letter I can send the original, but for the others, I will not get another copy from our HR manager for future.

All pages for PP including the biographic pages is required for PA. If your PP has been valid for less than 2 years, you need to submit ALL pages of your previous PP as well. Plus, your PP should be valid for at least 2 more years. If it is not, either renew it and place proof that you have applied for a new PP OR you can provide a LOE telling OINP that according to the rules, you cannot renew your passport unless you have 1 year or less validity left on your PP.

For dependents, only the biographic pages will do.

No notarization is required for PPs.

Write LOE for not having a BC but you don't along with a LOE for funds, you might need some additional documentation. What was the source of your monies? If you got it as a gift from someone, then you need to provide a gift deed. If you got it from the sale of property/assets/jewels, then you can submit the proof of sale receipt. If you accumulated the funds from your salary, then you can provide payslips to prove this claim.

2. For Reference letter, Letter of contract, Letter of confirmation and letter of Increment, Is it ok, if I send the photocopies only ? For reference letter I can send the original, but for the others, I will not get another copy from our HR manager for future.

Unless and otherwise specifically asked, only COPIES should be sent to OINP.

Generally, you would only be sending originals of your POF documents.

Hello Raj,

Are you in bangalore too? Regarding bank draft, i initially went to one ICICI branch and they told this facility is only available in few branches and recommended 3rd block Jayanagar branch. Same day i went to hdfc bank in koramangala and they told there are having some technical issues and can give the DD only after a week. So i went to ICICI bank 3rd block branch and submitted the request. The lady was very friendly and she called her manager and then told me that Form 15CA is needed. I knew that it is not needed as per our IT law but i guess many banks ask for it to be in safer side. And she told mee Form 15CB is not needed. I then went to two CAs and first one told it is not needed and if the bank insists they can get me one for 8K:) I tried to fill it myself and was confused with few questions and then went to the second CA. They told 4K and said Form 15CB is needed and they told they have to make a digital signature too and they charged 1.5K which was included in 4K. They did Form 15CB and used it to fill Form 15CA and given me an acknowledgement next day. I went back to the bank and submitted it and the lady told me to come in the evening to collect the DD and i got it in evening. When i was signing the register book, i saw there was one more guy took the DD for ontario on same date.

I knew the Form 15CA and CB is not needed but i didnt want to delay my application..
