Hi all

We are just submitting the last bit of paperwork (travel history, family history, photos etc) and have been told that one we submit this, we have to wait 14 months before we will get an answer.

does anyone know what this means? in that time we will be requested to take a medical. I am frustrated as it has already been a year in submitting forms, receiving the invitation to apply etc. and now we have to wait 14 months!

On the CIC site, it says that OINP is a faster process. what a joke! I have friends who have received PR through express entry in 8 months. my understanding is that the lawyers (it's through a company and their lawyers) have advised that my wife and I not go through express entry as we do not have masters (just degrees).

even so, is it normal to have to wait this long?

our work permits are going to expire before that happens, so now we have to go through that process as well.

sorry for the rant, but it is incredibly stressful and irritating having to wait for over 3 years to know if we can stay somewhere that is now home to us.

I think your lawyer isn't upfront and truthful to you guys. Please avoid them.

Also seem to be confused between OINP and PR process. These are totally different processes. One is for nomination while the other if for immigration (PR Visa). One needs to go through nomination before you apply for PR if your scores are not very high to get an ITA.

Please go through the relevant webpages from this IRCC website http://www.cic.gc.ca/ before applying.

How many points do you have? It's not late to try Express Entry now. If you have enough points, you are sure to get it. The point was going down lately to 447. To be frank, if you don't have 470 and over, it's really hard for you to get an invitation in 2015 and 2016. OINP may be the only way for you at that time. You made the best choice as you could at that time.

Really appreciate the replies. As I sAid I am confused as I get little information about it. We have definitely had an invitation to apply, as we were waiting on that until the end of last year, at which point we then had lots of paperwork to complete for family history etc.

Now we have been told that we have a 14 on the waif, before A excision will be made. SO it's very confusing as I like to read up on these things, but I can tell figure out what is going on and if this is normal for a provincial nomination.

Apparently as Neither of us have a masters we were told express would take longer, as we wouldn't e selected.

Based on your post, you are applying through OINP arranged employment category after receiving the nomination and it is NOT eligible to apply through Express Entry system. If my understanding is correct, yes it take approximately 14 to 17 months but you will get work permit extension by submitting the work permit extension with Ontario Nomination - Work Permit supporting document.

Your question is a bit confusing, however, IMO even people without a Master's degree have got ITA through Express Entry.

actually no i dont think so...
if you dont have masters, your score with ielts + 3 yrs work experience + age under 30 maxes out at 441 (if you dont have canadian education + canadian job experience + french skills)

lowest score was 447 last draw... :)

Incorrect.
If you are single, have CLB 9 score, without master's degree, 3 yrs. work exp. and age a little above 30 - still you can manage around 446 or more (without Canadian education and work exp.)

You may have the invitation to apply to OINP with the cut off at 400. But you do not have an invitation to apply to Express Entry because last year cut off was very high. With your profile, it's really no chance for you to get invitation to Express Entry. Hence, you should be proud of yourself that you made the right choice last year. If you don't, you may not even have the chance to apply until now. Current cut off is 447 and OINP is closed for more than 7 months now.

Sorry to disappoint you sushsmart but i did the CRS calculation just now... single guy without masters maxes out at 441 with CLB10 in all, and married couple (both without masters) and CLB10 ielts in all maxes out at 443

i dont know how the 2 x or more degrees thing work, but if its just bachelors - those are the cut off scores...

I am saying this from my own CRS points. Prior to nomination I had 446 - You have not done correct calculation.
Which CRS calculator have you used?? Looks like you have used some incorrect CRS calculator OR you have entered the wrong options.
