Guys, please update how are job opportunities in Energy and O&G sector right now, after the Oil market crash. I am a Project manager with 12 years exp in Energy / O&G sector with a PMP certification looking to move to canada. Would it be a good idea to look for a job in the similar sector or is it advisible to explore alternative sectors.

Is that experience Canadian?

Also Manager positions are usually out of reach for new comers, so unless your experience is Canadian I wouldn't look for those kind of jobs.

Nowadays very difficult to get a job in Canada due to oil crisis. Also outside experience will not be considered in Canada.

In Alberta and Calgary they still laying off people in Oil sector - Gas is not as bad as oil in the moment.

And there are not many new projects arounds. For each new position (no matter if Gas/OIl or anything else close to it) there are 100's of people with years of Canadian experience applying.

Hello guys,

I need some advise/inputs from you...

I am ready to start a new life and career in Canada from scratch....
but last year when I started my application, I was planning to start
with "safety" profession by taking up some courses and slowly get
into LNG industry...(as my recent and only exp in LNG was in Qatar
as a procedure writer for 1.6 yrs)...plus, this goes together with
my love for Alberta province.

However, currently many says not to look into Alberta as many people
are being laid off.... is it only O&G and associated industries or other
industries like wood/forestry (for example) as well?

Any suggestions for me?

FYI - below are my additional details:

I am a Chem. Engr with Masters in Polymer Science and my exp is as follows;
1 yr = Center Facilities Officer in a community center for children (the UK)
2.9 yrs = Research Associate in a Univ (Germany)
2.9 yrs = Head for a start up manufacturing unit rubber to metal components (0911) (India)
1.6 yrs = Procedure Writer in an O&G industry (Qatar)

Awaiting your reply.

Cheers,
Kovur
