When applying for OHIP, whether officer ask for photo copies of the original documents.

@YVR123 what doc can we show as proof of residency for someone that just landed and has no bank statements or utility bills on their name? @canuck78

list of documents are online. You will need proof of residency in Canada which is why some can’t apply the day they land.

I am PGP OR holder and now before completing first 153 days requirement, I hv to go back to my native and likely to return after 6 months, can I apply OHIP, when I again returned to Canada.

If you don’t plan on meeting the residency requirements you can’t apply forOHIP now. Doing so would be OHIP fraud. You should take out private healthcare insurance so you have some form of healthcare coverage. When you return to Ontario and if you plan on meeting the residency requirements for OHIP you can apply for OHIP at that point.
