Hi... I need some answer quick....

Me and my wife just went on vacation to the US.

We are full status Canadian. (lived in Canada over 20 years)

My wife gave birth to a 7 month baby, now the baby is in NICU in US.

THe cost of the NICU in US is like $2500 USD a day.

The doctor is ok to discharge the baby. If I was to transfer the baby back to Canada, Ontario.

Is the baby cover by OHIP? or does the baby need to have 3 months waiting period?

How does it work? Can someone provide suggestion on our situation.

The doctor say the baby should stay in NICU for 6 weeks... that 6 x 7 x 2500 = $105,000 USD.

What is our best option?

Thank your for your time.

My suggestion would be to contact OHIP directly instead of posting on a forum...

Regardless of the OHIP question, the child is likely to be restricted to the USA anyway until it's issued with an appropriate travel document, presumably a passport. This will take time, so you are still going to have a significant bill.

Have you started the process of applying for proof of citizenship? Your child must have paperwork to prove Canadian citizenship in order to get OHIP coverage. I think this has the potential to result in the biggest delay.

where to send dependants passports

i am currently working here in Canada and my husband and 2 children were still in the Philippines. I received a request for their passport so i send their passports to Ottawa as requested but they returned it back because they said that we cannot process my documents in our office sorry for the confusion caused. Now i am totally confused and running out of time for that. They said to contact C.I.C for more info but that's it they didn't tell me where to send it. Please help me. Thank you very much.
